As the results will not be known until the poll closes, I thought I would remove a small part of the suspense for everybody by doing an exit poll, just like in the elections. However, this is purely an indication to the result and nothing is concrete.
Ianofsmeg16 11:53 08-05-2005
How did you vote then henry? If you didnt vote for me then iwill be in switzerland SO fast lol, its obvious who I voted for isnt it?
King Henry V 12:06 08-05-2005
Well we can be pretty sure that most of us voted for ourselves. But the real deciders of the outcome of this poll are those who did not participate in the contest.
edyzmedieval 12:08 08-05-2005
It's obvious who voted for who...
Now it depends on the others, who didn't enter the contest. They have the word.
The Stranger 12:14 08-05-2005
i didnt voted for myself, i think that would be lame. i voted Monk
Ianofsmeg16 12:18 08-05-2005

i wasnt actually being sarcastic that time, its quite extraordinary for somebody not to vote for themselves unless someone has said not to
The Stranger 12:30 08-05-2005

being sarcastic (me)
Kagemusha 16:05 08-05-2005
I voted for Master of Puppets. My English is so bad that i judged those stories only by how fascinating they were so my vote goes to Puppetmaster.

Your english is bad?!
Shakespeare's gonna be revolted.....
You guys realise that the whole point of keeping the original poll invisible was so people didn't know how many votes someone had until they won...? It was why Tosa had to manualy rework the code to make the poll hidden.
So...why is this poll up again?

But you cant tell if i voted puppet master in the real poll.

And thanks for the compliments edyzmedieval.

Probably true, but what's the point.
"Look at my new medallion, I won it for my writing!"
Wow, who decided you should get it?
"I did!"

I didn't vote for myself last year iirc, and i won't this year.
Kagemusha 18:31 08-05-2005
Monk.I dont know about the others, but its just the same to me whether this poll is here or not.But i understand your concern about it effectin voters.I was only joking.
RabidGibbon 18:34 08-05-2005
I have to agree that voting for yourself is a bit weird. I originally thought that partcipants wouldn't vote, but when I realised others were I decided to vote for my favourite story.
The Stranger 20:30 08-05-2005
he monk youre winning

I agree. TosaInu manually adjusted the poll to make the results invisible and guarantee that the jury does not know the results, and then someone else creates another poll to guess the results.
I think this thread should be closed and deleted.
For the record: I have not voted yet, but will do so after I have read every story properly.

You're welcome by Red Robe Bald Brother.
Monk really is a great writer. I'm not gonna be surprised if he wins the contest again.

my point exactly

seconded. Nothing against this threads creator, but the entire point is to be
unaware of who is winning/losing/or what until the poll is closed.
The Shadow One 23:05 08-05-2005
Okay -- here's one downside to two polls. I just realized I voted in the wrong D*MN POLL!!!
Granted I should have been paying more attention but it was during my lunch hour, I wasn't feeling well, yada, yada, yada . . .
Oh well, errror corrected.
RabidGibbon 00:55 08-06-2005
LOL The Shadow One, I know what you mean. I voted in the exit poll, then realised I hadn't voted in the main poll.
I agree though that this thread should really be closed.
So why am I posting and voting here you ask? - thats easy - I'm a hypocrite(sp).

This concern alone merits the removal of this thread from the Mead Hall. If voting in the wrong poll is done by a contestant (or 2), what will non-contestants do when confronted by 2 identical polls?
The integrity of the contest is at stake here, so I've moved it to an unrelated forum.
My humble apologies to the thread/poll starter. I hope you understand the logic behind this decision.
King Henry V 10:00 08-06-2005
As I said in the Unofficial Story comments thread, I perfectly understand the logic. I did not mean any confusion when I started this poll.
King of Atlantis 03:31 08-10-2005
Whats wrong with voting for oneself. Do you guys think Bush voted for Kerry or Nader. Ive always been taught that you cant expect others to vote for you if you dont even vote for yourself

Being elected to an office is different than receiving an award.
Having your work judged by your peers and then winning says that a large majority loved your work. However, lets say you tied with someone and its up in the air between the two of you. But, you voted for yourself and by one vote you win the poll 1/3 of the vote, swinging decision in your favor and you win. However the "award" that was to be granted by the community, was granted by you. That's why voting for yourself in a fun contest is looked down upon.
This isn't about winning, its about fun and sharing your work with others. The prizes are an added bonus for your hard work. Getting elected to office is about winning.
King of Atlantis 03:51 08-10-2005
good points and your right it isnt about winning, but still I always vote for myself and will never see it as a negative thing. I guess it is all an opinion, but i just dont think it should be looked down upon. I know im proud that i voted for myself and if that gets me negative points oh well. I very much enjoyed my story and though it probably isnt the best written, i did write it to my tastes as every writer here does.
but whatever not trying to argue, just stating an opinion.
Ianofsmeg16 09:42 08-10-2005
As i said in the unofficial comments thread......isnt today, THE Day?
gosh i'm excited
edyzmedieval 10:12 08-10-2005
