can someone tell me some tactics I could use in MTW to help me out help would be greatly appreciated

well this would not be in the monastary, but if your an ultimate noob...

use heavy cavalry to flank there best men as they engage you, keep some heavy in reserve, always have archers pelting the enemy lines and have at least one mobile unit at the ready. this is ultimate basic.

And if you go hunting here, I am sure you can find some good threads about this. MTW is certainly a change from RTW... you actually need to think!

The Tactics you can use are endless but will often be dictated by what force you have avalible and what the enemy has.Ive been reading up on the military tctics of the middle ages and try as much as possible to use them depending on which faction i am playing with.Just a couple of examples for you,
Missile troops in front with calvary on the flanks,advance slowly,stop and shoot,advance again,stop and shoot,pin enemy front line with spears,send swords and cavalry round the flanks.Its also agood idea to try and send a lone heavy cavalry unit way out of your main army and try and hit the enemy in the
rear as the ai often doest notice this.This can cause havoc.

Another one ive used with some succes is to group all my cavlry into one super unit and smash it into one of the enemys flanks.It can be costly in terms of casulties but frees up a lot of your other units for a while.The ai will nearly always try and flank you or attack your rear so watch out for this.
In general try and make the enemy come to you even when attacking.
