half life two, best i've played of those listed, unfortunatly i never got to try "god of war" and it looks so violent.

haven't got around to playing most of those just yet but IMO Halflife 2 should not be on that list because it uses STEAM, Chaos Theory should not be on that list because it uses Starforce, and Doom 3 should not be on that list simply because it has horrible gameplay which does not even live up to Doom II's standards
Watch the language, PuttBull.
And if I absolutely had to choose, I would vote for MGS3 if only for the emotional ending.
Otherwise, I wouldnt pick any of the above.
Psst... when you say this year... most people mean 2005. HL2, MGS3, Doom 3, Chaos Theory, WoW, Halo 2, were last year.
I say RE 4. I just can't stay awake long enough to beat God of War. I just think it is DMC 3 or Ninja Gaiden minus the difficulty. I think RE 4 is just simply a lot of fun. Maybe not tough, but hey, I liked the gameplay enough.
Actually... come to think of it... if I want to beat the crap out of a bunch of morons, I'll play RTW!![]()

Probably HL2, but I'm not buying it as long as the Steam system is in place. To hell with them.
Splinter Cell 3 wasn't bad. Had a few very cool moments, not much replay value though. Looks great with a good system.

I can't see the poll options?????

Out of those options I'd say Doom 3. That's because although Splinter Cell Chaos Theory was an amazing game but.Originally Posted by Beirut

BF2 is the best game of the year so far.

I love Steam. HL2/CSS is great. Can't wait for DoD. However, even if Steam was or wasn't - it has naught to do with the quality of the software it helps to drive.
But I voted for WoW.

World of Warcraft. I've actually been playing it for almost a month (actual playing time, not real world time) since i bought it a couple of months ago.
I didn't think i'd enjoy it, but it has proven incredibly addictive. (I'm a lvl60 troll rogue called Boohugh on the Skullcrusher server if anyones interested)
I'm still waiting for Shadow of the Colossus, but I voted San Andreas for now. That's fun on the PS2.

Of those listed I would have to go with Half Life 2. Even though there are some things about it (the dominant gravity gun that is the silver bullet for all problems, steam and a few others) that bother me it is still an excellent game.
I don't think BF2 is a "big gun," but that is just my personal opinion.
Metal Gear Solid 3 has waaay too many cutscenes and the camoflauge system is just wrong. It let me switch camo types while an enemy was ten feet away and then (because I was considered invisible) pop him with my Dragunov.
Doom III was great fun, but the replay value is unfortunately minimal, although the atmosphere is excellent.
Halo 2 was great, but since they dropped the original development team it isn't as good as it should have been, and not quite GOTY material IMHO.
Don't know about the rest of them, but I definately need to get around to buying HOI2.
Isn't it a bit early in the year to have this? IIRC the Stubs the zombie game is coming out, that looks like it will be a great time, though on second thought it probably isn't game of the year material...

WoW, without a doubt.
I play an Orc warrior, currently lvl 34, Scout rank, on Dunemaul (North America). That’s a PVP server.

Hmmmm, resident evil was great for the first hours, but I couldn't really care for it once you left the village. I am currently loving devil may cry 3, I have been playing nothing else really since I bought it. So I will have to go with that one.
Not this year but...... just have to say it.......I'm still an EQ junkie!
