    Default Annoucing The New Mod Request Site

    I used to be a member at ferrets old skin request site but its kinda dead and disorganized. So with the coming release of BI i figure more people will get back into rtw. So new site if anyone wants a new unit or any other kinda mod done. link

    I think the old skin request died due to poor balance of supply and demand. There's a lot of demand while barely any supply. Also, many people expect to put in a request and demand nothing less than professional quality products. RTW is not losing popularity thanks to the excellent mods so it's not due to lack of people interested in it. In fact, there's probably more people interested in the mods than the original game by now.

    My suggestion is this: you should tie this site with the academy somehow. Make it so that people can request skins/models/mods (in small scale, no "GIMME A CAVEMEN TOTAL COVERSION WITH MAMMOTHS", etc) and newbie modders can try their hands on it. It would make a good learning place instead of starting a mod team, or trying to join a mod team just to learn. Senior modders can just give tips if they're busy working on mods. Heck, maybe you can have a few senior modders be "graders" or official critics/mentors.

    yeah i have a little thing on my site that says i will train you and help u to skin and maybe model. I think its a great idea to train people there and then put them to work so i can critizice them and get them good. It would help get the rtw community more modders.

    Er... I second the colours thing!

    Black text on dark green....not good for actually reading...
    And bright Orange....

    Have you had tests for colour blindness?

    As far as good colour schemes go, you either want a dark background set of colours with white text, or stick with very pale background colours for black text. The dark green hides the black text, and the shock of the orange contrast serves to further darken the appearance of the green...

    Content looks promising though

    I may not join now or even soon, as I have no project to work on (and no skills to boot!), but I will certainly keep this in the back of my mind.

    Have you considered contributing to the WYSIWYG project? The Ferret contributed to that, but there's a lot more left to be done.

    Do you have any examples of any mod or skin that you have previously done to show people who may be interested?

    Ok you have, the swordsmen were great. They'll look brilliant with the helmets.

    I have 3ds max 7. You said you were going to teach people how to model. Could you give me a quick guide on importing stuff from one unit to another, like giving Swordsmen the Peasants leather armour?

    rtw king you dont need 3dsmax to swap armor. I used adobe and swapped the texture of the leather armor. You can use 3dsmax to give units like a sword instead of a spear or a new shield or helmet or a cloak. If you want to learn how to create units you are gonna need to learn to skin first. I guess you prolly do not no how to skin yet so i will teach you that first. YOu can do a lot of stuff skining. How about you come over to my site and i will teach you how to skin and then model eventually. You sign up and help me.

    Default Slots open at the custom units site.

    I currently have 6 slots open at my site. I have some new modders on my team so i made more slots. Ive finished the first 2 requests and have the 1st ones picture under FINISHED REQUESTS its a beauty. So come on over any of you that need a new unit to spice your game up or you total convertaters that need units for your total conversion. We are willing to do any unit that you request. So come on over and check her out.

    I posted this here because i love this site and would like to help anyone here who needs a mod done. I dont post this anywhere else anymore.

    You teach to skin, that would be cool. My photoshop 7 trial expired so i would have to get cs trial version but yeah, i would be intrested in learning!
