Ostensibly because the back ranks cannot actually see what they are shooting at. I don't know if the archers could or could not see, I don't have a bunch of Medieval bowmen on hand to ask. But it does makes sense if you assume the back ranks cannot see. They are aiming without any kind of sight. Whether or not this is realistic is up in the air an,d in a game that is only loosely based on reality, I doubt it matters.On flat ground with tons of troops in front why are the first two rows accurate but not the others?
