Default Pat Robertson praying for openings in the Supreme Court

Saw this on Comedy Central last night, watched the video of Pat. The links are from elsewhere, must not have hit the news much. Those of you in other countries might be surprised, but it is all too common a theme over here.

TV Preacher Prays for More Vacancies on the Supreme Court

God will remove Judges from the Supreme Court

To summarize, Pat seems to think it is just fine to pray for vacancies in the Supreme Court. These are lifetime appointments, so you know what that implies. What a wonderful human being. Somehow I doubt that Christ is all that pleased to have this man claiming to represent Him.

McCain made a statement condemning this sort of extremism during his primary campaign vs. Bush. The GOP voters buried him for taking a principled stand vs. extremism. That was the final straw for me with respect to the GOP.

I see nothing Christian in prayer like this. What I do see is a warped little man.

Surely praying for the deaths of senior judges is treason?

the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family
    - Websters

Looks like attempting to overthrow part of the state overtly there. Hang him.

    Oh you guys are hilarious.
    Is O'Connor dead? No.
This is even from one of your links:
"Would it not be possible for God to put it in the minds of these three judges that the time has come to retire?"
Yeah, I think Robertson is a bit of a weirdo, but I gotta love the tenuos link you draw to the GOP too. Robertson = Christian. Most Republicans = Christian. Therefore, Robertson speaks for all Republicans.

edit: Does anyone else think its scary that people actually get their news from Comedy Central?

Yeah, I think Robertson is a bit of a weirdo,
Yup he is to the conservative cause what NARAL and NOW are to the liberal cause.

To summarize, Pat seems to think it is just fine to pray for vacancies in the Supreme Court.
Nothing at all wrong with that. I pray his prayers come true

These are lifetime appointments, so you know what that implies. What a wonderful human being.
Now not only can you read my mind but his as well.First you imply that he wants them to die and then that because he wants them to die he is an evil man. He said neither of these. I take it as he hopes they retire to enjoy the final years of their lives in peace and that a judge more to his liking will take their places. He says many things that you can attack him for but I dont think this one really rates it.

Isn't she retiring because her spouse has Alzheimer's? Oh, shoot, there I've gone and burdened you with the truth you are attempting to gloss over or put some spin on...

edit: Does anyone else think its scary that people actually get their news from Comedy Central?
I don't "get my news" from them, but occasionally they highlight something I was not aware of, especially when it comes to extremists. I watch Jon Stewart for a good laugh. Too bad they don't have a link to the Robertson part. It was right after "The Judge Report" if I recall.

So the initial conservative response appears to be: it's OK.

Pat Robertson is merely doing what he thinks will help to end the genocide of America's babies. there is nothing at all warped about that

what is warped is to stand idly by and allow the genocide to continue. or even worse, to condone or support the genocide

    Now this thread is silly.

Protesting an individual's action which is fine - but using that individual's actions to demonize a whole group well is something else entirely.
O well, seems like 'some' people decide to ruin a perfectly valid threat. Nice going guys... doc bean

American Protestantism was hijacked by the values of greed ages ago. This is why I'll never take us seriously as such a Christian country. I'm a pretty conservative atheist, so what the hell do I know?

I still think it's pretty obvious Jesus wouldn't have been a Republican. Also, for Pat to think that God has some vested interest in the legal disputes of any given nation is pretty obtuse. Even abortion.

He has a vested interest in what he created if you believe that he did as Pat does. Killing of his creation is not something I would think he would approve of.

I could see Him not approving. I still don't see Him interceding, especially via the SCOTUS.

What? That they retire? Like Sandra Day O'Conner did?
