What do people think is the best sporting nation in the world?????????. In terms of competition and acheivment in all sports.

without being a patriot what do others here think?????????

I would have to say although choking in the process this would have to be Australia. In terms of their small population of i believe to be around 12 million (corrrect me) they regularly come very high in the medals tables at the olympics .
and are the best in the world at cricket (come on england!!)
have one of the best teams in rugby.

yeh but you dont compete in any world sports like football(not any good) . and at the olympics australia often beat you. and they are only 12 million and you are many more

I'd had to go with the US on this. Although the US do suffer from a weakness in wintersports and some traditionally European sports. But still this is offset by their success in some other sports.
Also Arthur the US do compete in football and have been lately improving quite nicely.

Well if we take into acount population and economic restraints it's either Greece, or Australia. Aussies have an enormous collection of medals in every sport, they are simply the best.

Canada has been lagging horribly because our government doesn't support athletes and so we are probably one of the worst. Seriously.

Australia 20 million.

They do well at swimming, cricket, Rugby League, Rugby Union like the Americans are fantastic at American Football Aussies are the worlds best at Australian Rules (no kidding).

Field Hockey, Iron Men, Olympics and Commonwealth games...

But they still lost the Bledisloe on the weekend.

Per capita, Australia is the best sporting country in the world, but it has a lot to do with the fact that we have a good climate all year round. Other countries have to deal with this thing called "snow".

The UK competes in almost every sport going, and its athletes are lambasted by our papers whenever they fail. Thumbs up to the UK I say.

The Scottish Guys said Scotland is the best sporting nation, yet Scotland competes as part of the UK! why can't the Isle of Man AKA the Kingdom of Smeg be considered one?
