I have another one. In itself the sentence wasn't too bad (relative to the others we have seen here), the man was supposed to be drawn.
But they simply couln't kill him that way, and since the sentence was for execution by drawing they began to cut his muscles and tendons. Afte many attempts the poor bugger was still alive with basically all his major muscles cut and nearly all joint-tendons cut as well. Finally he died from bloodloss or pain (it is from France right before the Revolution so details in that kind is rather lacking while the details in what they did is very deep). I think the executioner was punished heavily for this, not because he had tortured the man beyond all reason but because the man didn't die from the drawing.
