There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford
My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
Baseball!
Nothing like the tension mounting watching pitch counts, balls and strikes, substitutions, lefty vs lefty match ups, steals, double steals, bases loaded with two out 3-2 counts, shut outs, leaping catches, drunken fans, bitter rivalries, and statistics, statistics, statistics etc.
I see American Football as Rugby for whimps with all that padding they wear, The other football or soccer beats American football by miles IMO.
Vote For The British nationalist Party.
Say no to multi-culturalism.
Rugby is best. Then what you Americans would called soccer. Then cricket.
American football is quite cool. Baseball is awful!
Cowardice is to run from the fear;
Bravery is not to never feel the fear.
Bravery is to be terrified as hell;
But to hold the line anyway.
Cricket, seeing as its the ashes at the moment and also it has the decency to go away for half the year unlike football (ie soccer)
American football would be quite a good game if you had never seen rugby (union or league). After rugby its way too stop start. But whatever floats your boat.
"The only thing I've gotten out of this thread is that Navaros is claiming that Satan gave Man meat. Awesome." Gorebag
I would have voted Cricket, but i hate the fact you americans have stolen our word football, which is a word for a sport involving kicking a ball with your feet and plastered it onto your wussy sport, which is a rip off of rugby, but with all those pads, because your wimps. So i voted for good old British Football, which is the only good football.
Btw, why do you call your sport football when you don't use your feet? That is a complete Oxymoron...
"The other" Football![]()
Rugby IS pretty badass. The uniforms suck and look like clowns, but who cares when you can punch somebody in the head while running full speed!Originally Posted by King Ragnar

Still i do have to agree, your version is better....soccer sucks! Go BENGALS

Rugby is good stuff. Soccer is good stuff (love that one announcer). Football is good stuff for the 50 minutes they're actually playing out of the 180. Love to watch hurling on the rare occasions its on TV.
For me, however, THE sport is Baseball.
BTW, I define baseball as:
played on a grass and dirt field
wooden bats and leather gloves
no designated hitter
perferably no games before 15 april and none after 15 october

The Phils are only 5 games back...DOOM on the Braves.

"Real" football, a.k.a. soccer, is the best of the bunch, but if you want the greatest sport on earth, it's definitely ice hockey.

I'll always prefer the tactics of football over the duels of baseball. Cricket... I just don't understand. And rugby is like football... just without the whole organization thing weighing it down.

Nothing comes even close to American football. Its like watching a war for 2 or 3 hours. No other sport has the tactics and strategy of american football . Rugy cant compete with it eother in speed or hard hitting. If american football players didnt wear pads they would kill eachother.

The real football of course.

I played HS baseball and football and went on to play baseball in college. I prefer watching football and playing baseball. Soccer involves
too much running and not enough scoring for me.![]()

all sports are good.. hell, i'll even watch golf if nothing else is on. my favorites, atm, are american football, soccer, tennis, and mixed martial arts.
edit: as far as playing (as opposed to watching), nothing beats soccer.. though baskteball comes close.

now i'm here, and history is vindicated.
They are all very different sports. I'm a huge baseball fan, Atlanta Braves to be specific...
But all the sports listed are great. As long as no one is juiced up and ruining the integrety of their respective sport. I do prefer baseball out of all listed though. Hitting a round ball with a round bat "squarely" while its traveling from 91 to 100 MPH is the hardest thing for a player to do out of all sports in my opinion...

As far as I can see the pending question is not limited to whats(what’s) better to watch and could as well be interpreted as what’s better to play.
As I have had the fortunate experience of having played all the sports mentioned:
American football: a couple of teams here in Norway and I used to train with the center on Bergen Bulldogs whilst in college.
Soccer the sport where you actually use your feet to some extent: Played actively until High school.
Baseball: I have a bat, glove and ball. Introduced to the game by some Mormon friends and actually tried to organise a local team in Bergen.
Cricket: I used to live in Australia and played some with Australian kids.
Conclusion: Soccer is the most fun sport to play… and hence is the better.
