Thread: Editing unit stats - how?

Default Editing unit stats - how?

Could someone be so nice and explain how this is done? Since a unit of my Principes climbed up their ladders and defeated two entire units of armoured Hoplites (!) on the walls of Pergamon without major losses, i decided two beef up the Hoplites' sword-and-shield fighting skill a little.
Do i need a special tool (just downloaded "Caligula", just in case) for this, and which directory are unit stats hidden in?
    Thanks in advance.

Don't have RTW in front of me at the moment. But there's a file called something like

    export_descr_units.txt

in your RTW directory. (Possibly under a data or system subdirectory -- it's in a directory with a ton of other text files, most of which do not have the export prefix)

You can directly manipulate unit stats in that file. Just use an ordinary text editor, e.g. whatever default program windows uses for .txt files.

You want Caligulas unit editor by GodsPetMonkey

It's good for starters just remember before you start using it to make a copy of the original.

Thanks for the answers, i've already found the file and edited some stats, which, however, might disturb the game balance, that's why i'll possibly redo it to the original state. The only thing i'd still keep changed is an improved hoplite secondary attack value and consequently an increased unit price.
What i wonder about is the secondary armour value. Cavalry and vehicles have a secondary defense skill of one, as well as most factions' elite units. Additionally, all roman legionnary-type units (from hastati onwards) have it. Does anyone one how this affects combat performance? Does it simply add up to the primary armour or is it calculated after a "hit"?

I pretty sure the secondary armour value isnt used at all. And infantry doesnt have a mount (which the secondary value is for)

Edit: elephants have armour in the secondary so I think they are treated seperately.
