Thread: Naval battles

Is it possible to make naval battles?! I know that many said no. But I have an idea.

First, create a battlemap, with a large river in it(just like the screenie in the river thread of Meneldil). Make a model for a ship, and then animate it. Use the engine of the walls, to put soldiers on the deck of the ship, so they can fire arrows. As for attacking with soldiers, well, we shall use the jump effect of the Cataphracts and cavalry of the Parthians.

You could make a 'ship' building.... but you couldn't move it. Walls are not animated and are fixed as part of a settlement. You could make your ship static.... but thats not going to make for a really exciting Naval battle.

I meant the engine, when the troops MOVE on the walls.

Troops can move on the walls, thats not a problem...but thats because troops move. Your 'ship' wouldn't. There are no animations attached to walls at all, they are static objects. The troops can move on them, so they could walk about on deck, but the ships could not actually come together to fight. All you could do would be to attack a static ship if it was next to land.

Try it by all means.... but I can't visualise how this would work.
