Building trait bonuses. They don't get if they don't stay home. Builders, Stewards, and Traders.Originally Posted by Graphic
There is no bonus to staying at home, at least to my knowledge. Even when my governers are away on campaign they occasionally get good trader/builder etc. Also by keeping them moving they avoid the lazy traits.
Loyalty is not affected. Neither is tax revenue.
Occasionally an away-from-home governor will get an absentee-landlord vice, which is a killer... but VERY occasionally, like I've only seen it twice, both in pre-VI MTW.

ty very much guys
No . . .Is their any kind of bonus for having governors in their home province?

There is no real bonus for keeping them at home, but it sure does mess
up my tidy empire having them roam all over. And roaming does
keep from the nasty lazy vice.

I have had occasions when, even with the gov in his home province, building is going on but some other unit leader ends up getting credited with 'builder' etc.
Here's the exact circumstances.
1) Gov is 0-star or just of a lower rank than the gen heading that province's stack.
2) Governor is part of the same province stack led by this higher-rated Gen
3) Building/crop development in progress.
4) After 'n' constructions, the General gets the Builder/Steward virtue, rather than the gov.
So I now have the habit of placing my stay-at-home govs in the fort/castle, such that they are effectively in a separate stack to any local generals.
Btw, I've noticed that if the Gov is in a stack where the star rating is zero for all of the units, he is marked up as the stack leader, seemingly because his title gives him higher status.
I'm wondering whether taking them away from home will mean that the leader of the garisson will get the V&V's instead?

Do you do all this in your head, or do you have an underground laboratory for this kind of thing, EYG?![]()
BTW guys, "Lazy" is not the only vice to fear, concerning couch potato governors. There are a hoard of embezzlement & corruption vices, and other physical ailments which come on strong if you leave them sitting at home for long periods.
I would love to see a "Governor review" screen in the next incarnation of Whatever Total War.
LOL! Underground Laboratory sounds around about right.Originally Posted by Roark

On the other hand, 'in the head' might be the operative expression. My 'addiction' (see the recent thread about next-turn syndrome) is spending ridiculous amounts of time noodling around on the campaign map, wallowing in the minutiae of my empire, instead of getting on with the business of battles and conquest and thus finding time to make obscure (but probably insignificant) observations, like this one.
FWIW, I reckon that 'lazy' is another one of those random ones. Lack of movement is definitely causative but the majority of my current set of govs have stayed at home, static for years and only a handful have come down with it so far. Steward +10% Ag balances out -1 acumen but retains the +10 happiness, so it's swings and roundabouts really. If I lack a comparable substitute, in the acumen stakes, I'll generally leave them in place.

They do get them, but not if they are in a stack that is commanded by another man. In that case the stack-leader gets them. This is nice (if cheesy) for farming virtues for your prince.Originally Posted by AntiochusIII
There is an "absentee landlord" vice, but I think it just the final vice of the "bad steward" line and has nothing to do with actual presence. CA planned the game to have a penalty for leaving governors away from their provinces, but they dropped it before release.

After a certain amount of time, you might as well try to get the worst governor. I've seen a drunk, crazy, child molestor, lazy, angry, adulterous, 6 toed sloth.

Since nobody's spotted the link yet, I should take this opportunity to point out that my handle was inspired by a song title. Only (the late) Frank Zappa could get away with doing goofy stuff like that.
