    Question Load/save bug..... again

    Do not try and patch the bug. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.

    No, serious. I remembered an old tread over at twcenter about the load/save bug and the possibility to work around it by not using save/load, only the “continue campaign” option in the main menu after you quit the game.

    I don’t know if this horse has been flogged to death by now. If so, I’m truly sorry to bother you with this.

    I tried the mentioned workaround in my latest campaign and I am absolutely positive about it working for me! I’m sorry I can’t provide screenshots at the moment, but I can assure you that both Germans and Seleucids (oh yeah, it happens!) expand like crazy (compared to most other AI factions that is). I play mostly very short sessions (one to three turns per session). So a lot of expansion isn’t to be expected from the AI factions with the bug in effect I guess.

    Anyway, I know this may be a moot point with the eminent release of BI (and the patch for vanilla rtw). But I considered it worth a try in the mean time…

    The load/save bug makes the AI players "forget" their objectives every time you load a saved game.

    This has some strange, but very serious effects. Like sieges being lifted the next turn after loading (nice exploit if need be btw). Hence the inability for the AI factions to expand if you load to often.
    There are more effects (diplomacy,...).

    Very annoying. Most /many people consider it a showstopper

    I'll try and keep my eyes shut then. I normally just use continue campaign anyway.

    This theory was tested and found wanting long ago. But thanks for trying.
