When your empire gets really big (25+ provinces) the construction reports become a very handy way to know when an upgrade to next city level (the governor/palace building) is completed in a city. That way you don't need to worry about forgetting which ones of your many cities were upgrading, so you'll always get to queue new buildings immediatly after the governor building is finished.

RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.

What Conqueror said. Vital when you need to upgrade, and generally the more reports you receive, the more likely you are doing well in the game. If I go two turns without constructing anything, I get seriously worried.

Its reassuring in a sense. So take it in good heart.
