I `ve found it, thank you.
Another Question: STW is the first game in the Total War row, is that right?

Indeed. Followed by Medieval and then Rome. There are even S:TW adaptions for both M:TW and R:TW.

BTW, do take note whether you buy Shogun: Total War or the Warlord Edition. WE contains the Mongol Invasion expansion with more campaigns, more units and off course the Mongols, but I heard it is less difficult and also less balanced than the original.

Oh, ok, these arent so many units then in rome. Well its the earliest game...

How many japanese clans are in the game? And how is it to win? Is it like in rome, where you have to conquer 50 provinces and Rome itself, just in Japan, with Kyoto and so on, or is it completely different from medieval and rome?

    there are 7 clans.

    the Oda clan
    the Shimazu clan
    the Mori clan
    the Hojo clan
    the Uesugi clan
    the Takeda clan
    the Imagawa clan

then there is a clan called 'rebels and ronin' which exists from... title explains

    and the mongols of course

you can set your own winning conditions in stw we:

    - conquer all*
    - conquer 40 of 60*
    - survive for 70 years
    - destroy all enemy clans (except rebels and ronin)

the ones with * you need to choose one of. if you wish you can add one of the others. so you can combine them.

you have bought stw we now? I hope so..

So you think, I should buy the "normal" edition of STW.

If I go on the site of Amazon, they write Shogun: Total War Warlord Edition (Jewel Case) by Electronic Arts — Windows 2000 / Me / 98 / XP
So it should go doesn`t it?

Anyway I have to buy first a computer and then I can play the game, but this will happen in the next two weeks.

i have xp sp2. shogun tw origional and shogun tw w/e And no probs here.

However I am quite accustomed to Making things work for me,
(not that i did anything to make Shogun WE work on xp)
"but maby i did make a difrent game work And that made stw work*

But STW will work on xp, xp sp1, and xp sp2.
I know becous ive been running it on all of them,
(using On board gfx, Nvida Gfx, And ATI gfx, also on a host of difrent mother boards And ram types)

Although Many people seem to have problems. I am shure that they can be resolved.
Prehaps a new thread should be compiled with all the errors people get when trying to run STW,
I would be happy to Sift thru them and attempt to answer each problem individualy untill we find the "fix" as it were,

However I dont much relish the thought of sifting through A possibly unlimited number of Difrent titled threads,

So prehaps 1 thread for all stw xp probs should be created.

as for which game to buy. Most people who play online have w/e or MI as far as i can tell.
And games with origional shogun could be difficult to arange,
So prehaps that should be kept in mind.

[QUOTE=Puzz3D]Original STW frezzes on the autumn season after calculation the harvest income. An error is reported in a windows control panel showing the problem is in module aac_parser.ax. /QUOTE]

aac_parser.ax is reported to be a direct show filter, And it lives in system32

Many programs use this file So id imagine some could even update it "im just speculating"
But some of the programs that use this filter include Divx player.
Which is a strange player in its self IMHO.
i would not be suprized if programs lieke those edit the file To make it more compatibel.

However thats just me thinking out loud,
I will try to find out from Divx if they edit tthis file.
or if others would be likley to.
