    Default Who'da thunk it?

Wow, what a surprise: a government employee who objected to Haliburton being awarded "no-bid" defense contracts has been demoted for "poor job performance." Can you imagine?

Thats what happens when you dont perform your job well. Its not hard to imagine if you've been in the business world very long.

And if you have been in the business world long enough you know that there is more brown nosing yes men managers then ones who call a spade a spade.

Management never likes being publically called wrong. They will always retaliate.

That is one of the reasons most technicians can never get to manager grade... they keep pointing out problems to management rather then just agreeing with their wisdom.
Our genes maybe in the basement but it does not stop us chosing our point of view from the top.

I haven't read the article, but I don't see a need to. Since when are complaining about management decisions and being incompetent considered mutually exclusive barring vindictiveness?

The Haliburton canard was debunked ages ago.

Whistleblowers are always dealt with this way. You will also be dealt with this way if you fail to "go along" with something that is illegal or unethical. It is possible she was a poor peformer, but more likely that they made a decision to bust her for speaking out. That is the way it is done in business. Business, govt, and military don't typically go after poor performers unless they lack connections...or have otherwise made themselves unpopular with those above them.

Anyone who believes differently should try doing the right thing in the face of management opposition sometime. It's a real eye opener, speaking from personal experience.

Of course not, or I wouldnt be playing on the net all day instead of doing work. I dont think he even knows exactly what Im supposed to be doing, only that Im to get a check every week and stay out of trouble.

But his people run a tight shift for the others. Ive seen how viscious the business world can be.. there is little sympathy for slackers and poor performers, no matter if they enjoy blowing whistles or not.

If you want to see government corruption, come over and check out King County Elections. They are now firing a woman who textified against her boss during the lawsuit over the election, exposing how he told her to falsify reports on the number of ballots cast; the boss was demoted to a job that paid about $4k less per year.

Amen to that. A good site for info on this is www.soundpolitics.com

EDIT: a link to the story: http://www.king5.com/localnews/stori...E.7e7c674.html

The dems are trying to stall any elections reform in the state, since they won only through dead people, crooks, non-citizens, and people not living in the state voting. They want to go to all-mail voting, when most of the problems came from mail voting. They also have worked hard to prevent the need for photo ID when voting in person (Heaven forbid we force people to go through such a hardship! ), and made a law allowing utility bill receipts as ID. And, the main loopholes are, of course, still open.

    Ja Mata, Tosa.

The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter; the rain may enter; but the King of England cannot enter – all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement! - William Pitt the Elder

If you want to see government corruption look at Ireland .
Sometimes its just an envelope full of cash thats needed to oil the wheels of power , other times its better to fill a suitcase or two with cash for really juicy contracts .

It's like other big organisations where you're expected to do things in a certain way. You WILL do things in the approved manner or suffer for it. As the old mob bosses said, if you can't understand it, get rid of it.

Anyone who wants to get ahead learns to figure out who to blame before doing anything. Or possibly who to credit for your own actions? Exposing wrongdoing is all fine, but not if you make the higher bosses look stupid. It has to be their plan all along.
If you're fighting fair you've made a miscalculation.
