    Question halfway through.

    rightio. ive got a few lose threads in this forum and im sorry for wasting space, so im going to wrap everything up here.

    My name is patrick, and im an alcoholic.

    Ok im moding the militia hoplite unit frokmmthe greek cities. ive made the soilders look like the standered bearers from the elite hoplite group, and the officer is just a hopplite elite soilder.

    first i need to no how to stop the soilders from holding the standerds, because it looks really bad, and if possible, make the normal hoplite elit hold the standard, but ill be happy to just have no standard at all. to do this am i going to have to edit these tga files or somthing ive been hearing about? or somthing else? or is it impossible? i also cant find which bit in the unit txt file where i edit the units basic attack and defense. any help there to would be nice.

    The answer to the last question, about attack strength, is in your 'another noob and frozen pea' thread..so I won;t go over it again.

    To remove the standard from the model, you MUST edit the model in 3DS Max. Check out the tutorial section for one on swapping over weapons. It's in the 3DS Max thread. This cannot be accomplished by just a texture paint. Same goes for giving the standard to another unit.

    You WILL have to re-paint the textures to put the standard texture on the unit tga, and some weapon textures on the other units tga. Then you line up the mapping on the new tga to adjust the UV mapping. Then you attach the weapon/ standard, and export the CAS.

    If you don;t have Max, find someone who does that is willing to swap the bits around and do the texture mapping. It's the only way you will physically alter the weapon in hand on a unit.

    Actually, you CAN get rid of the standard without editing the model. Just alpha the standard's texture. This should be considered just for testing or personal use though, since doing this you'd still be using high polygons because the standard, though invisible now, is still there. Just be sure to replace the skeleton animation in DMB.txt so they don't walk around with their left arm stuck in that position.

    ok. im still wonderin wether i should give this a try. is there some kind of step by step guide anywhere? further developments.

    have changed attack and defence. has the attack of a sparten hoplite and the defence of a elite hoplite. is now called

    Crested elites.

    so yea, ill think ill give it ago, if i can find a guide.
