I think you'll like most of it. Try to find some Steve Earle too, as JimBob suggested; although, you might prefer his earlier stuff considering his politics are pretty far to the left and his more recent stiff is rather solidly political. His song Ellis Unit One will really hit you though. Don't let the politics turn you away from some great music.
