Thread: Best (true) football player of all time...

This opinion has been asked to the world audience already and we all know who was elected (Maradona, if you didn't know it ), but a little fight is always good to warm up...

To me it's between di Stefano and Maradona, but Maradona gave us one world cup and that beatiful goal, the best of all times, an acronic space in time that will stay forever like a piece of the most precious art...

    Let's here it.

i really thought zidane was good.
anyway, SFS, he said real football, not crappy american sport.
it was heaps funny the other day, i was playing futsal and some american jokes thought that american football required more balls, so we took them on at futsal.
half of them were bitching about how dirty we were and calling for penalties, when we were just playing normally.
    thanks,
    dizzy

If you ask me Maradona must be disqualified for sheer ass-monkeydom. Punching a World-Cup-winning goal in with your fist and then saying it was the hand of god is a little too much IMO.

That said I don't know that much about futbol except that Maradona is an ass and people throughout much of the world are NUTS over it (futbol).

Well it would be very good if you create a thread called rant against Maradona. Seriously Arroyo, what Maradona did is something common, all sports have dirty playing, but you know Maradona because he's overly to famous, there're worst things, please come on....

Everything I know about futbol I learned from Mexicans, therefore I am biased and in the end I don't really care anyway

I might create a separate thread called "rant against Maradona" if (a) I knew enough about Maradona to rant about him and (b) there were enough people in this forum who'd know what the hell I was talking about.

But I think there's about enough exposure here to Maradona-dom to support just about 1 thread for all Maradona-istic issues.

    Diego and Zizou.

With the narrowest of margins, I had to vote for El Diego.

Much as I despise the little coke-snorting, gangster befriending, cheeseburger munching, obese, arrogant little cheat, I have to say Diego Maradonna.

His play in the 86 world cup was the best I have ever seen from a footballer, like he was from a different planet. Bobby Robson said something to the effect of "you could have taken Maradonna, and put him on any of the other 8 quarter finalists and they would have won the world cup" and he was right.

Something common???? Please, list for me these common examples of players scoring goals in the World Cup quarter finals with their hands and claiming it was "The hand of God".

I faithfully hate football, but I have to admit that watching Zidane playing with a ball is really enjoyable.

Non of this makes him the best and the 1200 goals is something invented, i think that he's counting the goals since he was 5 ,*cough* no is serious.

Maradona could do with the ball things that are beyond any real standard.

PS: I've notice that many of you've hatred towards him... i really don't know why, he rose from poberty helped others and never said i'm the best player of the world, in any case Pele is arrogant (i remember him here in the tribute to Maradona saluting all the people with that condencedent actitude).
