Well thats what i thought as well but for whatever reason it isnt working like that. Whats happening is that something is remembering where the original alpha-channeled areas were and then applying them to the new texture.

hey never mind. Ive figured it out.
So, what was the problem?
Epistolary Richard's modding Rules of CoolCool modders make their mods with the :mod command line switch
If they don't, then Cool mod-users use the Mod Enabler (JSGME)

I didnt notice the alpha-channel in the 'channels' tab benieth the red, green, and blue channels. I had always editted alpha-channels with the blending properties. Silly mistake on my part.
