Thread: The Old Hardcoded Enemy

    Default The Old Hardcoded Enemy

Forgive me for losing touch with the developments in the modding community...

Has that old annoying problem of spearmen not being able to bear secondary swords been solved? It's just that I notice quite a few EB units that could benefit from having a sword secondary...

I thought that was solved in the patch...
Anyway, we do have spearmen with secondary weapons, I'm almost certain!

No, the patch has not solved the sword+spear non-phalanx bug issue. But there are ways around the problem...

nope. Secondary weapon must use the same animation as the primary weapon.

yeah..either pikemen will swing their piek around. or will use their short-sword with 2 hands and stab...
    might get confusing..

This additional condition has to be met by non phalanx troops.
In phalanx it works normaly. So for example Triari can have both Hasta and Gladius (both weapons use thrust).

Yeah, no I remember about the "must be same skeleton" rule. I was hoping the EB was able to get beyond that.

But then again... all the spearmen that are well enough equiped to have a secondary sword are Graeco-Roman ones who would be using a thrusting gladius or kopis anyway. The Eastern spearmen were never so well endowed as to have swords long enough for slashing, neither were the Gallic and Germanic spearmen.

Ah, but you forget the Eastern spearmen who have bows and spears.

What is the problem is: without phalanx mode, if a unit has sword+spear it CTDs.

i would like to see an eastern spearman use his spear with an animation for firing a bow... now that would be kool.

Randy Kapp, how the heck do you have like 20 different siggys everytime I see you post?

Do you just make up a new one every time you post, or what?

it's just some kind of dynamic link. he has a web directory with all his sig pics, and the link in his sig probably just picks one at random when he posts.

Spear and bow would work, of course, just like the omnipresent sword/dagger and bow/sling/javelin of vanilla, provided the bow is the primary weapon.
