    Default Iberia:TW- Progress Report

Greetings Iberia Total War fans! (if any ........ )

Now seriously. After a long time without news, I think it is moment of a brief report of the progress of the mod, just to say we are still alive.
Perhaps we are too ambitious, but our goal is to make a total conversion of the game.

    UNITS

Research about iberian units is finished, but it is still under development for non-iberian factions.

About 95% of the units are done. Some iberian factions will be completed with one or two additional units.
Now Viriato is working in the greek colonies, as they will be different from the original greek_cities faction (see below).
The mod includes at the moment 75 new cas models and more than 150 textures. Here you have examples of the last units for the celtic faction: bipenni throwers, bipenni, ursus, guards of the Godess Cantabria, spearmen and scutarii.

We have also used the numidian legionaries and auxiliaries by LaCa, and the mercenaries textures by Warspite.
Some other artists, as Legionario and Maximus Minimus have also helped in this aspect of the mod.

Now we are balancing the units and factions, using the concepts of MCM (Multiplayer Community Mod: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=52191).
Some examples are: slightly slower movement, stronger javelins, more differences in terrain modifiers, more fatigue for heavily armoured units, command attribute for general units, higher moral...

As can be seen there is a new projectile, the bipenni axe, together with the "falarica" (flaming javelin)

    UNIT CARDS AND INFO PICS

About 50% of the cards for the new units are done. All the new cards will be ready for the 1.0 version.
Info pics require harder work and I'm not sure if they will be finished by the launch of the 1.0 version.
At the moment only 25% of the info pics are ready.
This is an example of one lusitanian unit finished.

    ANIMATIONS

We have used some new animations by other authors.
SigniferOne gave his permission to use his animations. Greek hoplites, barbarian swordsmen, roman legionaries, and archers use his animations (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=27015).
The carthaginian and mercenary elephants carry now javelinmen instead of archers.
Here there is an example of the new Phocea (origin of the greek colonies in the western Mediterranean) hoplites with the new animation.

The Greeks have now a precursor of the medieval crossbow (gastraphetes), that uses the crossbowmen animation from Chivalry Total War.

    SPRITES

    About 90% complete.

    SYMBOLS AND BANNERS

The provisional symbols of the beta version are being substituted by more accurate and artistic ones, but the work is still in progress.
Here you have the ilergeti symbol (wolf), together with the historical reference:

In case of the turdetani (sphinx), we have used as a reference the coins of the zone and period:

We have tried to make something different from the classical round symbols and this is the aspect in the loading screen and the campaign menu:

(forget the loading screen, it is an old version)
The two symbols have been made by CeltiberoManimor.

    CAMPAIGN

The campaign is completely functional. The last steps are: the introduction of the units of one faction and polishing the starting positions, armies and buildings.
All the new factions have new models for the strat map. These are the first examples, but we have more polished ones now.

The senate remains functional, in spite of having only one playable roman faction.
The idea of ZoR from RTR has been adapted to our campaign, with auxilliaries available from the different culture zones.
The barbarian tech tree has been improved with new buildings.

The temple system has been simplified and now each temple has more bonuses, either for military or economical purposes.

    INTRO VIDEO

We would like to include also an intro video.
I have been working in a draft, which must be polished before the launch of the version 1.0.

    LOADING SCREENS

We had a set of screens, as the ancient splash

but Viriato is working in a new set, with also a new logo for the mod based on the iberian alphabet.

    MUSIC

Viriato is also collecting music from different sources, to give a new atmosphere to the mod.

    UI

It is only an idea at the moment, but I have been thinking in giving a different UI to the four cultures present in the mod. This is still under development.

    DESCRIPTIONS

This is one aspect that it is only in the beginning. We have new faction descriptions but it remains the hard work of doing unit descriptions.

    TRANSLATION TO ENGLISH

    To be done. :(

I will edit this first post with the new achievements.
