That's something which hadn't occured to me until now - the whole thing about the age of the explorers being down to the need to find a better route to India and the Orient than the long haul around Africa.

So, all those 'colonials', over the water, have a lot to thank the Turks for, eh?

The food must have been terribly bland, in those days, to motivate them to go to such lengths to put some flavour back into their lives....
