...just a thought...all clans that register should have all members sign the code of conduct. And if they are abusive they get banned. far too many players clan and ronin in RTW and BI who are very rude and abusive.

Would be a good idea to make it mandatory that a clan AND ABIDES by the COH if it wishes to be registered at the org ?

I think all our clan members have signed the code so were ok on that front.

It’s a lowdown dirty rotten shame, is what it is…
We all paid good money for our games and should be able ask for a decent foyer to arrange to play each other in.
Abusive behavior is not covered by the Teen rating. Even with the obvious, disclaimer:
“Game experience my change during online play”, on the RTW box.
Possibly a petition to SEGA is in order?
P.S. Sorry this should really be it's own topic. Can these last few posts be transplanted?
The BI foyer is disgusting. The racist rhetoric abusive. Maybe i`ll try the VI ...heard there are some honorable players there.

I have started this thread, not because I am lending my support to the concept of compelling Clans to abide by the COH, but to have a place to move the previous posts that are disussing the idea to.
The biggest problem and the problem I take offence from is the Racism in the lobbies.
Anyways, most honourable clans prefer their members to sign the CoH anyways, e.g The Vandal Horde.
Is it 'honourable' to exit game as others are choosing units? No abuse maybe, but exit like this just mess up the game for others. Even CoH players behave in bad ways.

We all make mistakes, some times knowingly and others not, Code Signers included.
The difference is that Codies are striving to Keep The Code.
Striving to be respectable, and there by to be respected.
Hey, I’m no prude. My personal history includes many years of drugs, gangs, prison, and dealing with all of the low life that goes along with all of those things.
But never to my recollection have I ever be so turned off to an environment as I am to the RTW foyer. Why? Because the behavior displayed there is “out of place”…
Rude, crude, and other socially unacceptable behavior, has no place in an internet game room. It does nothing but diminish our multiplayer community. But don’t get me started!
Concerning this thread, let me say this. There are many honourable players out there who are not Signers. And many Clans with their own codes, equal in all results to the Code of Honour. No need to try to reign then all in under the same banner. Each must do what they can, from where they are. The Code of Honour is just where some of us are.
Truly “ignore” and “ban” is the only control solutions that we have. Use them!

My opinion: This would undermine the code. Honor cannot be compulsory. People would see it for exactly what it would be--a control mechanism, an attempt to exert power over them by use of indirect force. It would send the message: "your values must conform to our values, or you and yours are not welcome,"--definitely not a good idea.
I have not signed and will not sign the code. My reasons are personal. Does this make me a dishonorable player or person? It does not. As Tomi-san mentioned, there are many who choose not to sign who are honorable. Such a requirement would be grossly disrespectful to those who are honorable but choose not to "sign."

When the CoH was brought to my clan's attention by one of it's creators asking if we wanted to join it. My clan (Knights of the Realm) said no, simply because it is very similar to our code of conduct and the leaders reckoned that there was no need to agree to basically the same rules under a different name. In other words that our clan tags are a guaruntee of honour, integrity and fair play.
We also believe that if these rules are broken by our members it is an internal matter to be dealt with privately, which is why we also refused to join up to a sort of UN for clans that was thought up by some in TSOR clan before it went belly up - we like our independence. We do not want to be answerable to anybody except ourselves. We play for fun and we all get along with each other (and damned near most other people we played with).
So no, it should not be compulsory.
I think the clans should police themselves. It doesn't take long to know which clans uphold honorable behavior. Maybe an easily accessable list of active members of every clan would be good so that fakers can be identified and avoided.
Traditionally, what players who host battles have done to get the kind of game experience they want is to password their games and gradually build a list of players they know want that same kind of playing experience. To get on those lists you have to establish your name online. The COH tag is a good idea to get a name established quickly, but I don't feel my clan needs that since we all have established names that don't change. This isn't necessarily clan oriented. I remember the early days of MTW, before people started playing exclusively with their own clan, as the most fun period I've had with Total War over the last 5 years. Many players had already established their online names during the STW period, so I knew a lot of players. I hosted a lot in those days. STW had become a very cutthroat game especially after the rating was visible next to the names in the playerlist.
A lot of the established players stopped playing Total War with the release of RTW v1.0. Now with the release of RTW v1.3 and BI v1.4, the game might be good enough to bring back some of those players many of whom adhere to the honorable tradition of Total War past. Even if they don't come back, the game might now be good enough to build a large enough group of people playing regularly who all have the same kind of gaming experience in mind. I don't anticipate myself playing RTW/Bi regularly. After a year waiting for RTW to be brought up to the standard of play of the previous games, just about my entire clan spends their time doing things not related to Total War.
As to the foyer patrons, I like to know the state of affairs so I don't put people on ignore unless they are spamming the screen. It helps me determine if I'll let a particular player into a game that I host or if I'll stay in a particular game that I join. It is tough if you can't host. I played a whole year of STW unable to host. You have to be prepared to sit in the foyer for a long time waiting for a suitable game to join. After a while, you get to know when people you enjoy playing with are likely to be online.
