EA bought out Westwood because they were a money losing interest. CnC RTS games were there only successful franchise, everything else they made flopped big time. So eventually EA had to protect there investment in Westwood by buying it. After EA bought Westwood most of the Westwood empolyees were sent to the EALA development studio, which turned out Generals it's x-pack and the BFME games (which technically are CnC fantasy). But something like 75% of the old Westwood team is now at Petroglyph studio's. Both the people who didn't move to EALA and from former WW people who left EALA after being worked to death by EA. So the next CnC games will be Battle For Middle Earth 2 and Star Wars empire at war, they are being made by the same people who made CnC after all. But potentially the next CnC titles game will be Red Alert 3, if EA takes it out of limbo.
Also blizzard couldn't make a good RTS game if they were shown by Sid Meyers himself.

But yeah you're right, the taste differs quite much. Never really liked the C&C series myself.

We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Is there a word game about abbreviation RTS here, or I'll be the first sucker saying "Hey! It's Real Time Strategy, man!".. I've just been..Ahem..Dune II: The Battle For Arrakkis was the first mainstream Resource Transit System, not Command And Conquer.
That's true Dune is the first RTS. However, it's still a widely accepted truth that Starcraft is the king of the RTS region.
To you, it may be "Real Time Strategy", but to anyone who's sick and tired of the genre, "Resource Transit System" is the real definition. The whole game genre are dependant on one thing: resources you "mine" from the surrounding area. Gold, crystals, tiberium, cash, spice... it's all the same.Originally Posted by LeftEyeNine

Build hordes of A) super strong units, or B) super weak but super cheap units.
Zerg rush the enemy.
Rinse and repeat.
Thankfully, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms made the resources, and how it's "mined" to be quite unique.
Good story with horrid game play attached to it. Same story with all Blizzard RTS games. Great story lines horrible out dated un-fun gameplay.Originally Posted by Ironside
