Romans kinda lack cavalry. Apart from the Praetorian Cavalry, and the cheap and good Roman cavalry, the rest quite suck.

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.
A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?
Equites are no match for Macedonia, Greek or Carthaginian cav..
Roman Cav and Pretorian are excellent, though.
What I´m really missing with the Romans is a decent anti-cav unit. The triarii are good, but you don´t manage to get many of them, and the post-reform auxilia troops don´t hold their ground too well against cavalry - or chariots, which are even worse.
A lot of merc units are good against Cav. Recruit!
Oh, I do. I´ve invented the title of "official phalanx recruiter" for one of my less-than-usefull family members, who´s busy running through all the countries that offer phalanx mercenaries to gather them up![]()
Good job man!
Indeed. The odd job here and there does no harm, of course.Originally Posted by Ciaran
