Default Imperium Weekly Update #8 (Daci)

    Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the Late weekly update this time, it wont happen Again! Today i hope concentrate on one faction and show you some already well known WIP's (Work In Progress). Atheist Peace is currently un-availible, so i cannot promise to give you a spectacular preview like him, but......

    Getae (Dacia)

We have lived in these forests since the time of Zalmoxis. This is our home, the horse peoples of the eastern steppes do not belogn here. They have come to take our land, we have defended it and protected our shrines. We are divided, divided into powerful but chaotic "tribes" to the greeks. If only a Powerful leader could unite us, we would destroy those little greeks. What do they have that we do not? They are small, weak, easy targets for the falx of our brave brothers. Bah! They are rich and have been corrupted by the comforts of their warm homes, they cannot fight! Lysmachus, the king of Thracia, a Hellene himself, could not defeat us! We are the Brave Getae, nothing can stop us from conquering the known world, and making the Getae strong!........

    Dacian General

The Getae were known to be fierce warriors, lightly armoured, but they were not modest when it came to equipping their Warlords for battle. The Warlords of the Getae were often riding mounts, and would either command from the flanks, or stay behind the main body.

    Noblemen

When Nobles or high ranking soldiers in the cavalry went off to war, they made sure they were armoured in the best material availible. The small, but very deadly cavalry was heavily influenced by Celtic and Sarmatae cavalry which either invaded or migrated into this region at one time or another.

    Falxmen

Unlike the Falxmen of Thracia and the northern Balkans, who were exclusivley light armored, the Falxmen of the various tribes, the most common being the Daci, were actually armoured somewhat. Although not nearly qualified enough to be called Heavy infantry, the Daci Falxmen were still a force to be reckoned with. They were the main infantry of the line and were a terror to the Phalangites of Lysmachus.

    Light Cavalry

Although they had a small cavalry force for most of their time as the dominant tribe in the area, the Daci did have a good light cavalry force.

    Archers

The large influences the Getae tribal areas recieved were really only from two specific cultures. The Celtic tribes which had once ruled much of europe were the main influence. The other powerful influence was the Sarmatae, the Horse-Peoples who invaded Daci lands very often. Eventually archery became a must for many villages and cities with the land called "Dacia". Lightly armoured, yet quick and accurate, they made up a vital component of the Getae Light infantry.

    Warband

The basic unit availible for the Daci is the simple, yet efficient warband. Armed with a Spear, and a faction specific Longshield, the spearmen of this tribal area are very effective. Unlike the Warbands of the Gallic Tribes, or Germania, The Daci longshield is very effective for the attack and defense. They are more effective then the regular Warband vs Cavalry and are a vital component of any Warlords army.

    Alternate Daci Falxmen Skin.
This Skin represents the not so rich falxmen, mostly the normal warrior.

As it has been stated many times, all skins and models you currently see here are WIP unless stated otherwise. I Hope you enjoyed our belated weekly preview and i hope to have another one ready for you by next friday.
