That Hold the Line pic is absolutely lovely... Reminds me of a concept art of Alexander's phalangites in battle I once saw...

It's a foggy morning in the greek mountains. the sun rises.



Behind an old temple you can hear noises...orders and



loud shouting



while the huge greek army is still marching through the valley they are taken under fire by celtic soldiers



wild celtic warriors charge at the greeks covered by spears




after a short fight (of which i haven't taken good pics -.-) the greeks begin to flee




the defend of the ruins of their old temples has gone all wrong



who was lieing on the ground was killed



who fell down was trampled

How many were in that battle? It looks unformed enough to look realistic.

Let me guess, the Greek failed to lower their pikes?

The pic looking over the Greek soldier's shoulders is great... The Celts swarming down over a small hill... Looks very impressive. But pila for Celts?

Those looked like Germans not Celts. Celtic shields are more rounded not rectangle. You sure you got your factions correct Prof?

I know that those are germans...but the germans didn't come to greece...so i simply called them celts for the pics

You've definitely got a knack for taking excellent screenshots, and this is only emphasised by Prometheus' great models and skins. There's one of Indian archers firing at onagers on a hillside near citywalls. Is that a new custom map of some kind, I don't think I've ever seen that before.

Prof, you are making me extremely jealous! I hope you are having fun playing this mod while everyone else looks on in awe! It looks almost finished, what's holding up the release? Is it the campaign?

The roman army found out something about an illegal camp somehow...they sent some troops to check this


After noticing that this camp was used by rebelling gladiators they startet firing on it



when they had used all their ammunition they moved towards the camp


the cavalry was given the order to proceed to the center...


and to kill every resistance


soon they saw that they were totally outnumbered


but they obeyed their orders and fought on


seeing that the cavalry wouldn't have any chance without help, the general sent the infantry in, too




After the battle was won, the cavalry checked if there were any rebel survivors...


and the centurions made pictures of themselves in front of the enemy

Do all Roman Legionaries have the Dacian-war armor on their right arm (along with the armor on their shins), or is that just for First Cohorts?

And I'm not sure that Auxilla would wear cloaks in combat. Might give those barbarians something to grab hold of.

Still spectacular stuff, though. How close are we to release?

Those are the heavy cohorts

the only auxillia used in those pics are archers. they weren't even supposed to fight in a hand to hand combat.

The seleucid army is waiting for the battle to begin

As the Romans approach the Seleucids form the phalanx formation

Not knowing the strength of the seleucid cavalry the Romans get too close to them and are being attacked by them

At the same time the Romans trying to attack the Seleucids left flank have to face the mighty Syrian elephants

Nearly in the same moment the Parthian army appears next to the seleucid cavalry which was supposed to guard the left flank of the phalanx

They attack the Parthians

And pursue them until the last one of them is dead

The Praetorians who were supposed to help the elephant-fighting roman troops have big trouble killing them although there are parthian soldiers helping them

In the end the Roman and the Parthian army flee. Most of them are being killed by the seleucid chariots which pursue the routing enemy

OK, the men or those that mad this extreme good work is really the best modder possible for Rome total war. Now I don't want to play my RTW because I am jalous of the one having those skins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
