Hi Everyone!
I was just wondering if EB will have Navigable rivers. I came across a thread about it here <https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=52483> I would think that it would be more realistic for large rivers. Just Wondering.
Thanks!![]()

We have crossable straits. I don't know what you mean by navigable rivers. Rivers have fords like in vanilla. The straits work for various places that were historically crossed by flotillas of small boats, not requiring large naval vessels. Such as Euobeia and Greece. Or the ancient Suez canal.
The problem with that is that this solution does not allow for roads and bridges. Some of the largest rivers will be navigable up to a first bridge, but not beyond - we have to make some sacrifices, and I think roads and bridges are more needed than ship navigation far up the rivers, though I may be the only one :)

Sorry, I ment to include this Link. I'm not sure if it would cause bugs or anything but just thought I would post it.![]()
maybe EB could make a few of the largest rivers navigable, and use crossable straights instead of bridges on those? bridges on the smaller, unnavigable rivers.
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.

That's because roads work like rivers in map_features.tga.Originally Posted by Meneldil

A road crossing a navigable river has to look like this:
(R - road, r - River)
...R
...Rrrrrrrrr
rrrr.R
.....RR
But that's impossible, cause this:

Yes, that is correct. Roads cross the rivers at some places, but then it makes the whole thing useless, as the boats can pass "under the bridge" so to speak, so it doesn't matter if the river beyond the bridge is still navigable or not. So the compromise solution that we'll have in EB (that's not a secret, is it?) is, as I said, that the lowermost parts of big rivers are navigable, up to the first bridge location.
