    Default Silly diplomatic deals

Yesterday I was playing my game as Germania when all of a sudden I get a diplomatic deal from the Brutii (who I was at war with). To my surprise I saw that in the "offers" part it said "Accept or we will attack" but even more surprising was that the "demands" part said "Please do not attack" and absolutely nothing else!

anyone else got any stories about this?

You can extort money from factions for quitting trade agreements

Actually, that isn't as dumb as it looks like, the other weird diplo behaviour is much more stupid. Think it this way, the AI is just asking you to agree on not attacking each others, i.e. a truce. "You won't attack us and we won't attack you, deal, eh?"

    GFX:

offcourse you first need a trade agreement. I am usaully able to get a little cash on top of that.

Sometime later, you send a diplomat and simply choose the cancel trade rights option, and at the same time say they have to pay a sum of money.

Doesn't work all the time, but I managed to do it several times.

I've always interpreted the "Don't attack" request as "We're not ready to attack yet, so please don't attack us until our really big army gets here."

    Riiiiiiight.
"In war, then, let your great object be victory, not lengthy campaigns."

Consider this: in a Parthian campaign the Seleucids asked me to become a protectorate. I answered "yes, if you give me 16,000 denarii". They accepted - and attacked me the same turn!!
