    Default CoD2 Demo out now!

Get is here! Warning to those with low bandwith, the site will try to stream a really neat teaser trailor.

I don't think I'll bother DLing it, since my lappy is probably too weak.

I am interested in this game if I can get a better PC.

Against my better judgement, I'm going to try to run it on my P4 1.3 GHz - with Geforce 2 MX!

Actually, screw it. Its 670 MB, and it was going to take 2+ hours to DL from Yahoo.

Talk to you in 45 minutes. And that's with a cable connection.

I tried it couple of days ago and it was ok but nothing spectacular. Now that Im used to Red Orchestra, CoD feels a bit arcade heh.

It didnt have the wow feel of the first demo for CoD but that was to be expected I guess. The battle chatter is a nice addition and you had more options for where you wanted to go so that was good too. The three campaigns will no doubt be good so I might get it when it comes out.

45 mins? Gah, curse this lousy college connection! I was getting better speeds at my house, in the rural county, 10+ miles form a city of 50k plus people.

Since when is downloading several hundred mrgabytes worth of a file in 45 minutes lowsy? Have you forgotten what dial-up connections take?

Also, CoD 2 is still nowhere near as good as Brothers in Arms.

    No problem, Big_John.

You know what's funny? I tried the CoD 1 demo on my laptop, lowest settings, and unbelievable choppiness.

Tried it out, pretty good... Just like the previous CoD and CoD:UI really but with better gfx and more people (friendly and enemy) running around...

It is way hugely prettier than Brothers in Arms, but as meatwad pointed out the gameplay feels lacking after the additional interaction, planning and decision making necessary in BiA. Maybe it is too much to take from a demo but this is still the one man army style of gameplay set in WW2....

Having said that it does look and sound really good...

Going a little off topic here, but is Brothers in Arms a good game? It seems like people are using it as a benchmark for WW2 shooters. I'd heard suggestions that it had repetitive tactics (suppress, flank, assault, repeat) and it was very hard to hit anything in. Were they wrong?

(I've never tried CoD or that type of game, but enjoyed Vietcong and Ghost Recon).

In BiA, you had to command between one and two "squads" of three soldiers, and sometimes you got a tank to play with as well. It was necessary to ensure that they were in the correct position so that you could defeat the enemy squads, without your squad(s) getting slaughtered. It was harder to hit anything, but it was realistic- you could not aim as well with a Garand or a Thompson as with a sniper rifle or a Kar-98. As long as you could outflank the enemy force, though, you had a good chance of defeating the enemy- but you ALWAYS had to keep the initiative- wait a second or two too long on the flank and you would be spotted and shot. Overall, it was the atmosphere that made the difference: it was gritty, bloody, intense, and realistic.

I was mad that you got it in 45 mins, and that my connection at college was slower than at my rural home.

overall i liked the demo. it felt like call of duty...and thats the problem. it felt EXACTLY like the first call of duty.
the "new" health system is [messed] up bad.
i can only imagine the campers on multiplayer....oh god.

it still wont let me stop from buying this game though

CoD was one of my favourite games ever so I am really looking forward to getting CoD2.

let me be yet another to praise BiA. amazingly intense game, great atmosphere and storytelling as well. the only downside is that it's clearly an xbox title first and foremost... the pc version is somewhat chunky port. if you have an xbox, go with that... the controls feel much more natural on a gamepad strangely enough. i played the first one on pc, and am currently playing the second one on xbox, and i find myself gunning, issuing orders left and right all quite smoothly with the controller.

and by the way, i highly recommend the second game over the first. the first one was ok, but the second one beats it out in every way possible. the story is better and more developed, the missions are much longer, way more wide open, and the AI is MUCH improved. the germans will counter your flank attempts and they're not afraid to suppress and flank your squads in return, unlike the passive AI of the first game. it also has skirmish missions, where you pick a map, pick one of four gametypes, and the difficulty of the enemy, and go to town. it adds an absurd amount of replayability... not to mention that you can play skirmish missions in co-op with a friend. awesome game.

    enough nerdboy fawning.
    obviously, you're not a golfer.

MOH Allied Assault is the best WW2 FPS, IMO. CoD is the most intense.

I will for certain get CoD 2 after the very positive experience I had with CoD and it`s expansion.
