RTW MP Campaign - The game has begun!

do I need version 1.2 or 1.3 to play? I have 1.3 right now but i cant find all my instal discs, if i need 1.2 couldnt i just reinstall 1.2 and have it overide 1.3? PS- Krek or Mydraal, the files you fowarded to me show that white prophecy is still on the roster for armenia, am i still in this?

I think the turn over is going to be very very large. Already almost to me and game has not even started.
We should have a policy that eliminated players are put on the reserve list if they want.
Also we should throw up a few more posts here and there about this MP test so we can get a larger back up list. At this rate all the reserves will be playing after the first few turns.
In addition there should be a time scale for how long people take turns before they get dropped or replaced. If we wait for people that go out of town etc and have one or 2 of these happen each round the game could take YEARS. :)

Sorry i havent posted for a while, I have been very busy.

I have just downloaded the files i need the script thing so i havent tried it out yet. I have sent a pm to Myrddraal asking for a copy of the script but in the intrests of speed perhaps somebody else could send them to me at will__spence@hotmail.com. (Just re-read the thread it appears that Myrddraal dosnt have the files anymore, so i definately need someone to forward me the files. Thanks.)

Regarding tedward, he is a forum member but it wont allow him to post for some reason. I think he has forgotten about the multiplayer campaign, I will phone him tonight (Monday) and tell him to get his arse in gear and download the files. If he doesn't do it by Tuesday then you might as well get somebody to replace him.

Once Ive done all the installing and extracting how do I test it? I tried and when it went to load the imperial campaign for my faction, the game wouldnt load it. It didnt crash but then the link to the imperial campaign seemed to be broken. perhaps im doing something wrong? If anyone could help I would be very appreciative.

im not sure if this is the problem,
but try:
go to Rome total war\preferences\preference.txt

and change: "FIRST_TIME_PLAY:TRUE" to "FIRST_TIME_PLAY:FALSE"

if False is already set, then i dont know what your problem can be
maybe some of the other guys know

Regarding you not being on the list in the mail: when Myrddraal send us the files, WhiteProphecy was still playing. Since I simply forwarded you the original mail from Myrddraal, your name isn't on it.

Let him send a PM to me (or an email if he can't go on the forum) to let us know he's still in. In that case we'll give him another day (or even two) to download the files, install them, make his first turn and send the savegamefile to the next player.

However if he hasn't made contact by 21:00 GMT tomorrow (dec., 13th), I'm afraid we have to replace him.

With clean install:
Install RTW
Install RTW patch v1.03
Install RTR light mod v1.00
Install RTR light mod patch v1.01
Install RTR light mod patch v1.02
Install descr_regions.rar (latest update for descr_regions.txt)
Delete file 'map.rwm' (in 'Rome - Total War/data/world/maps/base' folder)

Regarding the timescale for a player's turn. We should make it like max. 2 days or so. Also if one is leaving town for a couple of days, he can ask an allied player to make his moves.

Regarding the thing about putting eliminated players on the reserve-list: I agree.

The slow startup is most probably caused by the fact that it took a long time to get the mod working, so a few players lost interest in checking this thread every day and thought: "well, I'll check in next week".


If for some reason this game hasn't started by this weekend (no responding first player, whoever it may be) then I'll start it myself and make no moves for Numidia (witch is the first faction) but just press "END TURN" and send the savegame file to the next player so at least we can get this show on the road.
By the time the second turn is up, we'll be sure to have an active player.

sorry about the double post but i couldn't figure out how to edit.

There is a problem with a couple of the files
Germania Points to Briton instead of Scythia so after Germania it will be Britons turn instead of Scythia like it was meant to be.

I also found that more than half of the factions crash the game if you try to start the game with them, including Numidia.

And half of the factions do not allow RTW to even boot past the Activision screen without crashing, it seems to be the faction specific file that is causing this, but my Faction seems to work just fine so if everyone elses is working fine then i don't care if all the other factions are screwed up on my pc :P

Bleda, don't worry about asking questions. Things witch people refer to as being 'easy' are only 'easy' when you understand them.

So I'll answer your question for everyone since probably more people have problems:


TO EVERYONE:
(sorry to yell)

We are NOT playing Rome:Total Realism (RTR) as you may be used to! (like v5.x, 6.x or the future 7.x)

Hellenes and DestroyerOfHope have made a NEW mod, witch is based on RTR. They have called this the RTR light mod.
They have done this so we can play a balanced game for all factions, and use some ideas from RTR without everyone having to download a mod that is 200+ MB.

So: RTR lightmod v1.00, v1.01 or v1.02 are NOT the RTR as we now it.

So, once again an explanation for what to do:
(you only have to read this when you haven't read all the posts by Hellenes about it and followed his instructions)


INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MOD in seven steps:

Start without any RTW related products on your Harddisk (clean install):

1) Install RTW (by C.A.) from your CD's.

2) Download and install RTW patch v1.03 (by C.A.)

3a) Download RTR light mod v1.00 here:

3b) Install RTR light mod v1.00

4a) Download RTR light mod patch v1.01 here:
