The combo quiver-bow case is a gorytos, a Scythian style that was by pretty much all Iranian horse archer peoples until the arrival of the large asymetrical bow, often called "Hunnish". Then there started to be seprate bow cases and quivers.Originally Posted by jerby

Are those falxes going to be armor piercing weapons? And are there going to be falx-using regional units or mercenaries for other factions to recruit?
The Getai are definetly the best looking one of the "barbarian" factions previewed so far. I'll probably have to give them a try at some point. In fact this is probably THE faction that I'll want to attack northern Europe with.
(Sound of disgusting drooling)
THAT... LOOKED... FAN... TASTIC...
Im gonna love this mod.

that is definately the first faction I'm going to play as. going to kick some greek ass... awesome skins. first version of falxmen that really really rules, and I absolutely loooove their dark imagealso the horsearchers with their quivers, wow... in fact all skins are some of the most lovable I've seen, and their armour is just stunning
about the warband: do they throw spears, or have an alternative way of stabbing?
Well, Sarmatians used it too, but the Scythians used it first.Originally Posted by jerby

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.
A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?
Dacian language is dead for the most part, but I do believe some of the units are named with some of the surviving words.
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars”
-- Oscar Wilde
As to the Dacian language, only about 150 words are known today. It had roots in thracian, that is all we know. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there are many more words than that known from Thracian either (180-200). In many of the names we are trying to use Dacian and Thracian words, but there are lots of places where we can't fill the gaps easily. And insted of using English, we put the words in Greek. Greek is the source of some of the names anyway so it's not a very far step, and is much more appropriate than using English or Latin or modern Romanian names. Out of the total unit list we have, it looks like more than half the unit names have dacian or thracian words as part or all of the unit name (sometimes they are paired with a Greek adjective to make the name more precise).
edit: It is ironic that you use Greek in your subtitle to say something "Dacian"?"Basileus tôn Rhômaiôn"

Teklekos, you're right. Only about 150 words are known today.
I'm curious if you guys were able to do the mod without Romanians like Alin and Sergiu.![]()

Nowake is still the coordinator for the Getai technically but he's been in absentia for quite a while so others have picked up the proverbial ball and run with it. But he did most of the core work on the faction's units and names I believe, aided by other folks. We've got a couple of Romanians as members currently, but we've had others like Nowake and Callatian and Alin in the earlier days. Outside of northwestern Europe and the Iberian lands, it has been one spot where many members come from actually.![]()
And I thought the guys are only interested in CounterStrike and Warcraft...
Well, it's good to see Romanians working on a great mod such as EB.![]()

I think it is fair to say that we could have done what we have done without any one person, but not done it nearly as well.
Nowake, in particular, has expertise that no other member has had, and we miss him sorely.
You sound so superior. Just a test? Sure, that is why you said this elsewhere:Originally Posted by edyzmedieval
