    BTW Lord Krazy,

Do you think it would be possible to give the arquebusiers 'bayonets' - make them defend with spearmen like qualities?

    Thanks,

    I'll answer this one.

I believe so, because the projectile units do have a projectile weapon and a hand to hand weapon. So this basically means, if you change the animation and place a spike at the end of the gun you can make the unit fire the gun like normal and then, when in hand to hand combat use the weapon like a spear, now this is just a guess but I'm presuming that this true.

I don't think it would be entirely historical...for the period anyway...
    Have you seen the fnords?

    Which period?
I don't care if it says
1092 if they have musket and bayonet
and uniforms to match then I will
play it the spirit of the mod.

Bayonets weren't used until the late 1600s. At least to the best of my knowledge, maybe the 1500s.

Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.

Late 1600s. Up till that point most of the army was pikes.

Post-medieval period... hopefully covering the Renaissance to about the beginning of the 1700's. The high point of this would be infantry with bayonets w/c would be able to counter cavalry charges. Milord Krazy would you be able to send me at least the crusader file entry for 'bayonet infantry' so I can test it out here?

There are so many battles that this would open up for modding - Rocroi, Arras, ECW, TYW, Boyne, Killiecrankie, Blenheim. I'm trying my hand at the last three as part of the RTW mod.

Well then bayonets would be perfect. The're the reason full rifle armies could exist . Seeing as they whoop cream the enemy at range and then serve as pike/spear men in close quarters.

    Good luck Lord Krazy!!!

What I'll do is ,send you an alfa
version so you can get the idea
    still work to do.I'm mostly
dealing with concepts at the moment
to see what can and can not be done.
This is very doable.I have done most
of the work on this on the animation
and practical end nothing on stats yet.
No fancy paint work actualy no paint
    work until rome is finished
    apart from weapons .

If it doesn't require the animations to work then I can be content with the crusader_unit entry for now.

    Thanks,
