Agreed! The 18 kill and die / 21 no booze contradiction is completely ludicrous and insulting.
Hey if they want recruitment up, they can always have a military drinking age exemption! After all, these guys are far more disciplined on average then the run-of-the-mill 18 yr old.
Of course, I think it should be 18 for everything anyway regardless of service, so what the hell.

There is nothing wrong with calling a minor, or putting up a booth, or any other way of advertising the military lifestyle to children. It is ultimately their decision to join when they come of an age where they are mature enough to consider all alternatives.

To me, the commericials all seem to make it cool. Theirs a guy going all around the world, they apeal to people that can't afford college, they try and the vibe I get is that their trying to make it seem cool. Not about protecting your family, but that it's cool.

The recuriter is not out trying to get your friends killed - that is such a load of emotional appeal garbage that its really only something to ridicule not have a logical discussion about.

So are you attempting to say by default that all of us who served in the military are out to get ourselves killed because we are or were suicidial. Sorry Divinus but I think you're wrong. You don't need to live in a third-world country to experience that, or are you gonna say me that in your "world" that doesn't happen? The police and the military have, between other functions, the principal and predominant function of cohercion wheter this is ideal or material, when it's effectivelly used. So no country is free of this. It may reflect more in third world countries because they don't respect the laws in general, not just the opressive organs, but the society in general too.Wow.
