I was wondering how your support armies under AI control play. Are they still ineffectual under AI control with suicidal generals, or can you now safely delegate to the AI knowing that they will contribute to your battle and not be inept.

Until proven otherwise, I will always disable the AI from 'helping'. I do believe that the AI has been improved for your buddies so they are not a liability, but I will always be better than the AI. I would rather be outnumbered than having half my troops lead by a Varro.

Mark Twain 1881"If you don't want to work, become a reporter. That awful power, the public opinion of the nation, was created by a horde of self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditch digging and shoemaking and fetched up journalism on their way to the poorhouse."
Speaking of which, is it me, or did the rules change on what can be under AI assist or not? If I remember correctly:
RTW 1.0 and 1.1: reinforcements with a general were always under AI assist (which led to too many suicides). Reinforcements under captains were under human player control, and if more than 20 units, they waited for empty slot to enter.
RTW 1.2: Reinforcements under a general have option of AI-assist. Reinformcents under captain still as before (sequential if more than 20 cards).
RTW-BI (1.3): Reinforcements under a captain or general can be either AI-assist or sequential, depending on user choice.
Am I correct that there is a difference between 1.2 and 1.3?

Captains can be AI controlled in both 1.2 and 1.3.
The AI does a good job with reinforcements. Its particularly effective with assisting in seiges.
