Default Who does the better blues? (not right now...)

As the title suggests, this is a choice of two musicians/groups. (better, not best.) So: Janis Joplin or Creedence Clearwater?

Creedence Clearwater did some great blues, and they really did a good job of sticking with the origional blues styles. Janis, on the other hand, did less blues, but what she did really stood out (Turtle Blues, I need a Man to Love). I have to go with Janis, because I perfer Chicago blues overall (and because I love her voice.)

I must admit this is one of the silliet polls Ive ever seen. Comparing one of the great blues singers of all time to a raock and roll band. I have never heard of CCR being reffered to as a blues band never mind a great one. Try BB King or John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers and maybe we can start a serious disscussion. Heck throw in Cream and Zep while you at it they both CCR away as far as the blues goes. Dont get me wrong I love CCR and Susie Q is a great blues song but they are not a blues band.

I must say I too am befuddled at the categorization of CCR as a "blues" band.

I wouldn't really call JJ and BBHC as a blues outfit either. They were a rock band, with an obviously heavy blues influence.

I love BBHC's work on Cheap Thrills. It's such a bitter sound. The guitar work on that LP is pretty unique, I don't think I've heard anything quite like it.

There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

    *beats strike*

Janis, she was in with Jimi and Albert on Blues at Sunrise. You can't argue with that.

And another thing where the hell is Albert King, Muddy, and Johnny Lee? All polls involving the blues are required to have them.
