Sometimes bad spelling does get on my nerve as well, but you have to consider a few things when ranting.

    1) Some people aren't ignorant about spelling, they just type really fast and sometimes make mistakes.

    2) I learned an important lesson from Gregoshi about people on these forums. They come from all around the world and all they want to do is join into our wonderful discussions. They just don't speak english, but they try hard I'm sure.

    3) Some people are young and spelling is just hard for them.

Now, I will not lie, when I'm rushing or just feeling lazy I may get a homophone error, but it's not that bad is it?

    That's just my opinion.

I'm fine with the odd typo, and to be honest, it shouldn't really annoy me as much as it does. Let's all try and be a little more tolerant

Age is no excuse. I have been correcting spelling and grammar since I was about ten.

maybe the children are -90 duh

i think most people and i'm one of them dont want to mind their spelling. its not school and for alot of people english is not their first language. also many people type fast and are to lazy to edit later...i only edit out bad mistakes (all mistakes only when it was a story)

You know what strikes me as strange is that you are all complaining about bad spelling and grammar and then if Abokasee mutters some garbled and incomprehensible message and everyone starts laughing their heads off like some big private joke and then look down and shake their heads sadly at those who don't get it, as they would to the village idiot. Then they would say something to the extent of "Well it's like like ironic, innit, like sort of postmodern art you know what I'm saying?"

Don't you have anything better to do?

I always try to use correct spelling but I do use things like: m8, lol, rolf... etc

why are you disturbed by this in the first place? I understand it's annoying when you nearly can't read a post because of bad spelling, but that's mainly because the patron just never had the chance to learn proper english.

If you don't like some of the er... less conventional spelling methods, you might not want to know about this.

Well, Abokasee is a chapter of his own

I'll just pop in to post the mandatory cartoon for every grammar-related thread anywhere.

I have to agree with 1) and 2), but 3) is not really understandable for me.
I am a 15 year old german and most people on the internet are about (+ - 1 year) my age, now one wouldn't expect a german to speak and write nearly error free, as we have very few encounters with the english language through the medias here, but come on? I'm not a wonder child, and if it's possible for a young german like me, then it should surely be possible for 'children' in my age with english as their main language to spell correctly, or at the least use correct grammar and punctuation where it is necessary.

And I do not have any problem with spelling mistakes, as long as it is quickly understandable. Although I often find myself irritated and slowed down by things like "U" and "Me 2" or something, it's not the worst thing.

What REALLY annoys me, is to see official game sites with obvious spelling mistakes. I mean come on? If you're making an internationally or nationally accessable web-site then you should at the very least make a darn spellcheck in word! That's not too much, is it?

Oh and I totally understand when people use phrases like "lol" or "Rofl", I find myself using "Rofl" sometimes too, when something is really funny. I just got used to it, and I find myself not too disturbed by it.

    Thanks for reading ;)

The common mistakes occasionally disturb me, but otherwise I'm tolerant.

Though there is a problem with spelling things right in people nowadays. I am a non-native who only encountered a large amount of English less than two years ago, and I'm far above many other students in writing, both in context and grammar.

However, if there's something I hate, it's the l33t language. I couldn't even comprehend why people actually use them. Sheer stupidity, I say. Like that moron in the picture.
