The point is stress reduction. Celine, idiot that she is, sings like an angel and some of her stuff, while the water runs, reduces what little stress I have. Though honestly, after a day of hard physical labour, you don't have much stress left when you get home.

Until your woman gives you some at least.

Then it's off to the shower!

    See my sig
Look what these bastards have done to Wales. They've taken our coal, our water, our steel. They buy our homes and live in them for a fortnight every year. What have they given us? Absolutely nothing. We've been exploited, raped, controlled and punished by the English — and that's who you are playing this afternoon Phil Bennett's pre 1977 Rugby match speech

Make a list of all the things you hate the most and then go for a drive at rush hour!

I use to have a lot of trouble with stress until I learned to say F it. If I cant do anything about it right now then F it, worry about it later. If I can do something about it I usually drink a redbull and plow thru it with as much focus as I can just to get past it.

To unwind, seeing my family usually works but if not an option I will stop in to the comic store (the guys there are a riot) or try to see/call a fun friend. A shower and some fresh clothes works too.

On a serious note, the key to dealing with stress is identifying the stressors. Stress is the result of demands put upon you, and your enviroment shapes the nature of the demand.

When you've identified the nature of the demands put upon you in your everyday life, then you can begin to sort through them and see where the imbalances are in your life that are causing your stressors to go from eustress to distress.

You must look at the roles you have in your life. Examples of these roles are student, employee, friend, son, father, soldier, etc. In each one of these enviromental roles the demands put upon you differ, and the key is to identify which roles are resulting in distress. Then you can begin to break down why these roles are being met with the stress symptoms, and then you can move forward to finding the solutions themselves.

I hope this wasn't too vague. When I was still on active duty I taught an eight step program for an ASAP (Alcohol Substance Abuse Program) for soldiers focusing on stress.

It's a little easier to teach the class when fielding questions and using a white-board, but I hope this brief explanation may get you started. All the suggestions above only subdue the symptoms of stress, but won't do anything when you have to come back to the real world. There just temporary escapes.

Generally I try to get away from whatever issues are hounding me until I clear my mind. This generally involves music and an FPS, although it can involve a run through the fields behind my house as well. Any activity to get my mind off it for a bit. Then when my mind is cleared I try to figure out what is bothering me, why, what I can do about it and make a plan to deal with it. Doesn't really work with things I can't do anything about, but otherwise it does just fine.
