Default FBI Kills Filiberto Ojeda -- Assasination???

I was surprised not to find a thread here on this-- just heard about it from my brother. I'd be interested in all of your take on it, and any additional information you all may find. Here's an introduction:

    From the AP:

    http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._fargo_robbery

Filiberto Ojeda Rios, 72, fired on the agents Friday from a farmhouse in the western Puerto Rican town of Hormigueros, said Luis Fraticelli, the special agent in charge of the FBI for the U.S. island territory.

Juan-Manuel Garcia-Passalacqua, Puerto Rican political analyst and radio host.

JUAN-MANUEL GARCIA-PASSALACQUA: What happened, and again it's in all the newspapers, because the widow survived, and she has told the story. What happened was that the special team of the Federal Bureau of Investigations entered Filiberto Ojeda's home in a rural barrio in the town of Hormigueros by crashing the gate and shooting one hundred times against the house. Filiberto then put on his fatigues and his boots and responded the fire with ten shots. And the number of -- the number of spent cartridges shows that he was shooting ten times, and the F.B.I. was shooting a hundred times.

After that, again, none of the hundred shots caught him, but a sharpshooter that was located on a high ground, maybe in a helicopter, shot him with a single bullet through again his neck or his -- place near the face. And he fell, and then for 12 solid hours, the F.B.I. refused to enter or let anyone enter the house waiting for Filiberto Ojeda Rios to bleed to death, which is exactly what the coroner certified this morning that Filiberto Ojeda Rios died of a single wound brought because of bleeding caused by that wound that lasted for hours without any medical or any other help. So, once again, it is clear this was a political assassination.
    And the latest:

I think that it's a little earlier to make conclusions. But I really distrust any "dog" of the government, the hipocresy spreads there to subordinates something that couldn't happen in a real liberal state. But let's see here you've some sources (in spanish of course, i think your understand them):
    El VoceroPensalatinaArgenpress.
A critical analysis of this right now will be impossible. But the tendences are clear, this is another political assasination. It will not be late before we hear excuses of US government stating things like "terrorism".
The territory invaded by the FBI was (and is) jurisdiction of the government of Puerto Rico, so in first place the americans didn't have any right to get in there. This will be just another unpunished crime of the worst corporation of all, the state, in this case probably the most powerful, what really disgusts me is that this doesn't surprise at all, at this point...

All indicates that the FBI didn't wanted him alive. A long time ago the dirigent left all belic actions and was dedicated to achieve the union of the independentist movement of his country. The lawyer and ex-agent of the CIA, Ignacio Rivera, stated: “There's operatives oriented to capture living mans but in this case… it's belic, wich mission is to eliminate the foe, like they were on Afganistán or Irak”.
That pretty much sums it up I think.

He's a fugitive on the run. How is that assasination?
A fugitive? Of what? Of robbery? That made it a dangerous and death diserving criminal.

And you would be incorrect - and don't try the arguement you just did with Crazed Rabbit - because you would still be incorrect

    http://welcome.topuertorico.org/government.shtml

Puerto Rico is a self-governing commonwealth in association with the United States. The chief of state is the President of the United States of America. The head of government is an elected Governor. Puerto Rico has authority over its internal affairs.United States controls: air, land and sea, immigration and emigration, nationality and citizenship, currency, maritime laws, military service, military bases, and all other federal government agency. The currency is the US Dollar.
Its not a colony at all.

Strange then the source I readed must be wrong, it clearly said "colonial authorities". I suppose an USA colony.

How can it be termed a political assassination... he was a bank robber shooting at federal agents???

Talk about stretching a definition to suit an agenda.

Puerto Rico is like one of the 50 states of the US, except with better rights then the states... something anti-federalists would probably list as where they would like state rights to go towards.

The source linked comes from the Puerto Rico government - so yes the source you read was wrong. There are groups that are advocating complete independence from the United States - and they use the term colonial all the time - but it does not mean they are correct.

Peurto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States - which implies something greater then a colony.

Yes indeed - Puerto Rico does fit the model for the Anti-Federalists conception of what states rights should look like. or at least that is also my opinion.

Now that the little colony term has been addressed to the topic of the article.

The FBI does indeed need to be investigated on this shooting and subsequent events. There is the issue of waiting 12 hours after the shooting before entering the house that must be addressed.

It smacks to much of the Ruby Ridge incident to me in a lot of ways. Lots of issues to be addressed or the conspricary nuts will go bonkers with this one.

I've been to Puerto Rico many times, these "nationalists" think that Puerto Rico should be an indepedent country in the same sense that the Michigan Militia would like Michigan to be an indepedent country. Most Puerto Rican's view themselves as Americans, and the only reason they don't want to become a state is because the poor get a large tax break. However, Puerto Rican citizens and people living within American Commonwealths have no say in Federal Elections which is why living in a Commonwealth has a drawback in that case.

There's the issue of the time, but also the desproportionallity on the passed "judgement", the denying of the presence of Dávila, the ambigous declarations, the fact of several shells founded on the scence...Lots of things to consider. Nothing here will change my mind really (towards imperialist policies), but...

There is the (British) Commonwealth of Nations.

And there is the country called the Commonwealth of Australia (that is its full name but it is just referred to as Australia).

Commonwealth is the Federal level of Australia, while individual states have a fairly large range of powers. However as time goes on, the country is becoming more Federalised.

Holy crap-I just read about ruby ridge. I'm glad one of those FBI b*$%^#* got killed. Shooting kids in the back-they sure were good at that.

After reading that, and knowing Waco, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the FBI let the poor sap bleed to death.
