About to start a new game in RTW:BI and I need help.

I’m planning to start a long game as the WRE. My first game came to an unfortunate end when a combination of Germanic hordes, WRE rebels, and the ERE completely destroyed my empire (first time I’ve actually lost a game like that!)

I have a question, as the WRE should I concentrate on becoming pagan by building pagan temples such as the shrine of Mithraism or should I concentrate of Christianity? It seems to me temples to Mithraism are the best option since they offer experience bonus for troops. Christian churches could be a problem with big cities since they give growth bonuses.

I also have questions concerning religious artifacts. I’ve noticed there are several Christian artifacts like splinters of the cross and the grail, but are there any pagan artifacts?

Finally, concerning the political offices appointed to governors and generals for the WRE and ERE. Is it similar to MTW as scrolls that show up in the provinces? For example, if a general dies holding the titles “Duke of Britain,” will the title show up in Britain or perhaps Rome?

First off, great name.

Second... not all the countries in the world have access to RTW:BI, in fact only the minority do at the moment... so the amount of people who can tell you is considerably less and those who could tell you are probably playing not posting... I will keep an eye out or you might be the first to post and tell us all!

Yeah I guess I was lucky, I found one copy of the game at my local mall. I’m surprised it hasn’t reached other countries yet. I live out in the boonies (Idaho) and I’d thought Mongolia would get before we did.

Anyways I am able to answer one of my original questions, though I'm still confused at the origin of political offices for the Romans. It appears that only Christian artifacts exist. I have yet to see any Pagan or Zoroastrian artifacts.

The best strategy for the WRE, including your questions, is up in the air. The hordes add so much unpredictability. The same strategy might not work twice.
