Default Recovering from your RTW/BI addiction !!!

    Hi everyone

Recent graphical problems with BI have led to me thinking about a new graphics card. Spending £20 on BI was fine but another £165 on a suitable graphics card is not so easy a decision. RTW/BI are the only games I play and this leads me to the point of this thread.......................................

...............................from other posts on this site I have concluded that many of us play RTW/BI and other games to excess. I have spent many a night playing till 2/3am when I have to be up for work at 7am. This is not productive to other areas of my life and each time I play I only plan to play for an hour or 2. Now I do not play very often as I need to know I have more than a couple of hours free before I start.

My addictive personality shows itself in other areas of my life but they are currently in check. I went though a few years being addicted to the opposite sex and would be out every night. I am also a compulsive gambler but have not placed a bet since 26/11/01 and hope I never do so again. I am making these statements not for sympathy but just to show you what I am.

In order to break my gambling addiction it was important to fill up my spare time. Playing games like RTW/BI has been a great help and I have enjoyed meeting people on this forum. Recently I have started to look at other activities rather than using RTW/BI as an excuse to stay housebound.

I have had a gym membership for the last few years but am now trying to make a serious effort to get there 3 times a week. I have managed to see good weight/physical results over the last few months. I have also started attending a Salsa class which is very hands-on with the opposite sex without it going too far. My son visits once a week and enjoys playing on my playstation 2. I try to limit him to playing for only 1 hour at a time and try and get him out and about as much as possible.

I fully intend to continue playing RTW/BI but not to make it my sole leisure activity at the expense of others. I am not trying to get everyone to stop playing this great game. For those who see themselves in what I write please try and take onboard what I say. Anything done excessively in life will be damaging, try to have various leisure activities rather than one to the exclusion of all others.

I apologise if this thread offends anyone in any way as that is not what I set out to do.

I wish you well in RTW/BI and all other areas of your life.

Why thank you and good luck. I hope you find something fun and not addicting.

As for me...well I'm hopeless in this addiction battle

To be made worse, I AM spending $150-200 on new graphics card and RAM for RTW.

And worse than that, that's only for vanilla RTW. When I get BI and all the mods that come out around this time it will be even worse!
