Vogue editor 'cream-pied' by activists

Well at least they are being consistent...

Wintour, dressed in a fur-trimmed black jacket, was hit in the face with a tofu cream pie as she left the Chloe fashion ready-to-wear show at the Tuileries Gardens in central Paris, members of the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said.

those guys are low men on the totem pole. not worth it. it would be like...shooting the pets because the owner robbed a butcher and gave some scraps to his dogs.

Point taken. I think it was stupid. I mean PETA is a pretty powerful organazation, so why they have to resort to throwing pies at an editor is beyond me.

i did some work for this editor *once* and found myself smiling at the pic (read it in the paper) when i saw it. the devil does indeed wear prada.

Because they don't have a wall of phalagites to run behind after tossing their tofu -- or are the only bikers in your area from one of those "pediatricians riding harleys on weekends" clubs?

The difference between fur and leather is that leather is a by-product of meat production (at least it usually is).

So the alternative to actually making clothes and other goods from leather would be to just "throw it away" - not really a meaningful alternative.

But as PETA is opposed to all meat production the fact that leather is a by product should make no difference to them.

I'd never really thought of being a biker as putting myself on the same level as a robber's dog before, I may have to reflect on that one.
