Hoyas,

I was just sitting down, satisfied with a few campaigns of BI, I thought I'd check out what had happened in RTW. I decided to play a 1.3 campaign, but once I realized that the Mundus Magnus map didn't work for 1.3, I stepped down. Going back to that tiny vanilla map just feels wrong. :)

So, I decided that, while other people are (most likely) porting Mundus Magnus to BI, I would do a mod of my own. A small mod. Namely, I'd make a simple mod that remade the egyptian faction.

You ask me why? There are already lots of mods that do that. Well, yes. But these are all part of bigger mods. There's a carthaginian/egyptian mod that also makes hundreds of changes to Rome gameplay. There's RTR and EB that will feature realistic Ptolemies, but I'm no fan of RTR and likewise, EB will be a larger mod.

So, I'll make myself a mod that makes the egyptians into Ptolemies, with armies fitting that timeperiod. No other gameplay changes will be made!

But finding information on the Ptolemaic army isn't the easiest. This is what I've come up with so far. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Infantry:
- Militia Hoplite
- Levy Pikemen
- Phalanx Pikemen
- Elite Pikemen: Leukaspides maybe? Many mods use the name "agema" but that is incorrect, as the agema was the royal guard and part of a bigger army division all consisting of elite warriors. So I'll need a fitting name. Leukaspides means White Shields, pretty much.

Light Infantry and Artillery:
- Peltast
- Slinger
- Archer
- Elite Archer: I know the ptolemies didn't recruit native egyptians until later in time, but since RTW spans across a large period of time, I thought including Nubian Archers as a elite archer unit would be nice. They would have little armor, but durable bows and archery skills. Not the best unit, but better than regular archers.
- Libyan Infantry: Light infantry, armed with javelins. Similar to heavy peltasts.
- Balista
- Onagers
- Heavy Onagers

Cavalry:
- Militia Cavalry
- Greek Cavalry
- Companion Cavalry (Ptolemy I Soter was a companion, after all)
- Elephants
- War Elephants

No armoured elephants, due to the fact that the elephants the ptolemies used were smaller than the ones the Seleucids used. This will reflect that.

What do you guys think? Have I missed anything? I was thinking of giving the elite ptolemy units slightly less armour, since they fought in warmer climates. Alexander himself equipped his army with lighter armour whenever they fought in warm climates, so.

Suggestions, ideas etc. etc. are all welcome.
