I did a test unit today and was able to get the unit into battle.

I had to add files in the following places to create my "test" unit.

I. Textures/Men folder
---in the peasant file, I copied the spearman .w and .s files and renamed as test.
So I have a "test" unit with the weapon 6 and shield 3 characteristics of the spearman. I changed the shield to the 1 shield from 3 but keep the spear.
---in the items file/shield folder, I added a "test" folder in the shield 1 folder and copied the six actions contents from the feudal sergeant into the test folder.
---in the items file/weapon folder, I added a "test" folder in the weapons 6 folder and copied the six actions contents again from the fuedal sergeants into the test folder
---then in the actionspage folder, I added a "test" folder and copied the contents from the spearman folder.

II. Then in the crusaderunitprod txt file, I copied and inserted the stats from the spearman unit as my new "test" unit. I changed the unit name from spearman to "test".

III. Finally in the Campmap/reviewpanel/units folder, I copied a bif of woodsmen and retitled as "test".

After doing all of the above, I started a campaign game. I was able to build the "test" unit from a fort. The "test" unit was armed with a shield and spear. I was able to have the unit show up in battle and fight. So the process does work.

However, I copied the bif in campmap/reviewpanel/units of a woodsman unit. Will the game create a bif or do I have to create a bif using a paint program?

Also the bif of the woodsman showed up in the strategic game. When in the tactical battle mode, the picture fo the woodsman in the small unit blocks along the bottom of the screen was blacked out. Apparantly there is another small bif somewhere that is used in the battle map.

Looks like I can get everything done except the bifs. Are they automatically generated?
I hope so...I can't paint with a paint program to save my life....
