I voted moderate but actually it's no more than a handful series and occassional documentaries here and there, and never news, at least on the local channels.

Children of 0-6 age should definitely be prevented from watching the TV. Moderation for the 6-12 is fine.

Actually, I had a similar thought, but in actual fact, life is a little bit more complex then just achieving things.

As you know I have achieved the majority of goals many people still need to achieve. e.g. Mortgage-free home (good location), high performance car (300hp 4WD), high paying job (6 figures). All the while, I have played countless hours of wargames, watched countless hours of TV, listened to countless hours of music, etc. etc.

I have learned while you should have goals, you should also relax how you like while achieving them. This is a balance you develop as you mature.

At the end of your life, you should be able to ask yourself, did I enjoy my life, if the answer is yes, you will be happy.

Remember "We work to live, not live to work"
We work to live, and to live is to, play "Total War" or drive a VR-4

If I make my rebuttle I will surely recieve a warning.

However coming from someone who doesn't know the first thing about Nietzsche I cannot take it seriously either.

Well coming from someone who dosent know the first thing about TV I can not take it seriously ethier. Have you ever tried to watch scrambled porn while keeping your composure at 1 in the morning while a member of your family is making a sandwhich? Trust me. That is an art

I watch television only very rarely. The vast majority of it is a waste of time. And it is now an inferior medium to receive news from: the Internet is both much more current, and gives more details about any given story because it does not have "this segment can only run for 45 seconds" types of time constraints.

In my view television as a medium has become obsolete for the most part.

I had read that the very inventor of the modern television tube (a Russian emigrée American engineer) died in regret, as to what kind of a monster he created. TV news = brainwashing. They don't inform you. They are there to lead you. And I have to admit they're utterly successful in that.

Im way ahead of you. Also I venture I watched far less tv than you have at your age. We only had 5 channels when they all came in and we tended to spend the whole day outside playing real games . I dindt get to watch much tv in the Marines either. Think of all the years youve been wasting and will continue to waste on Nietzsche.

I use my TV to watch movie DVDs and hold little junk that doesn't fit on shelves. I don't miss television at all.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it a little hard to take advice on how to live my life from a, what, 18-19 year old who once said that glory holes were great for people like him

television is extremely addictive, but so cozy. I think when you can't remember what you've seen 10 minutes after the show is over, it has been a total waste of time - nothing gained at all. When sitting and watching for hour after hour, it really give me the creeps to think about the fact that I'm sitting all alone in a chair, not moving at all, watching a box.

allthough I don't watch tv that much, the computerscreen takes a lot of my time. I think that's almost as bad, at least when not working or doing anything productive.
