Thanks . I love the look of the hatchet. Sleek and modern, without looking to "artsy." Sounds like it's quite functional too, and would make a great tool for backpacking. Is it very heavy?

Not heavy at all. The plastic handle is hollow but still very tough. The blade is a thick utility shaped blade and even when well sharpened is not knife sharp, but sharp-axe sharp. (Unlike my Gransfor's axe which you could perform surgery with.) Also, like all plastic handled axes, once the handle-axe connection loosens, it's game over. For that reason I wouldn't use it as a throwing axe. But as a backpack axe it's very good.

This is the only size of axe I would use with a plastic handle. Anything bigger has to wood.

I've got a few maglites a 3 D cell a few double AA ones. I love mags because they arn't too exspensive and work very very well.

And on the topic of knives I personally love my CRKT (columbia river knife and tool) hunting knife. my friend once cut through two bloody coconuts (without my consent :P) and the blade had no damage to it whatsoever. I've never really even had to sharpen it.

edit just look for a pic to must not be carried anymore 'cause the site doesn't have it. anyways its got a 7 inch blade with the first inch and a half to two inches serrated.
