Is there a quick fix for depression?
If so let's hear some suggestions, and make them good. Even if they are humourous, it doesn't matter. Sometimes even jokes can be helpful.

Okay, I'll give you some corny jokes...
What's a bear with no teeth?

What's a dog with no legs?
Answer: It doesn't matter, cuz it's not coming to ya!![]()

All kidding aside, some good music perhaps? Visit some friends or relatives?![]()

Get a pet. A dog or a cat - or any pet that can show emotion.
It helps.
When I said Death before Dishonour, I meant alphabetically.
If it is depression then talk to a professional.
If you are feeling down in the dumps do things that make you feel happy, or break your routine. Go swimming, eat a new food, read a different style of book (pulp), see an old western, exercise etc. The idea is that maybe you are just very bored and your brain needs a new stimulus until it can handle doing whatever you normally like to do.

Agreed, its really the only way to help it if you have depression. It's expensive, but it works.Originally Posted by Papewaio

Get a cat. But it just helps, it doesn't fix it. Oh, and pot. But its only temporary.

See a therapist. Or a psychologist if it's serious.
If you want to hide your depression and let it gnaw away at your subconscious, eventually driving you insane, I would suggest

Get busy, find something that interest you. And if its a major one, go consult a specialist.Originally Posted by Byzantine Prince

Seriously thou, I know TV isn’t your thing so try listing to some fun music, even if it is not “your style”. I can’t be depressed when listing to Frank Sinatra’s upbeat songs and they are sooo not my style. Fun Christmas music works too, especially off-season.![]()
Although it’s not always an option (sure wasn’t that often for me when I was in school), sex is a pretty good anti depressant. Maybe even with Frank Sinatra playing but probably not with the Christmas music.![]()

It all depends on the type of depression. If its situational - change the situation that you are in or if that is not possible find something to occupy your thoughts whenever possible.
If it is a clinical depression - its best to seek professional help. Drugs are not always necessary but a professional mental health expert can help you more then you might realize - if nothing else to point out the rational thought process from the irrational.

It's definetly situational at its core. I've been having a lot of pressure to perform at school, and I also have other problems that add on to that. There is also a certain routine every day that is very confortable but also constant, and tiresome. I need a change in routine for sure.Originally Posted by Redleg

On situational stress - I just ask myself one simple question and it keeps me from going into a stress mode - which normally triggers a situational depression for me. Just find yourself that question that helps you see prespective about what is stressing you out about your situation - which I am assuming then leads to your depression.
My question is a hold over from my military days - is any decision I make today going to hurt or cause someone to get hurt? And frankly 99.9 percent of the time I have found in my civilian life that the answer is No - and then stress begins to role off.
Now that does not prevent me from suffering some situational depression - but it keeps it from becoming an overwelming thing.
