    Old savegames will not work with 1.3 and unlocking the normally unplayable factions is done differently.

    RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.

    Yeah, I found out it was the save games when trying to load a Roman campaign. I could have sworn through that in an FAQ they said old save games would work. As far as unlocking the Macedonians, they already have a description, so that wasn't the issue.
