i'd say it really depends on what kind of people you're going to be going against. of course the big thing to work on is the basics... dribbling footwork, shooting form. aside from that work on your speed and agility your lack of height (no offense im over 6'6'' so most people "lack height" :P) might be a bit of a problem. also since this is a church league, when somebody beats you off the dribble... admit defeat and dont foul or use arms to block him. of course the intentional foul does have its place :D.
once you have the basics down start working on a few moves, boxing out, posting up etc. if you can find a friend who knows how to play ball well and work with him... play a little street ball or something.

btw one more piece of advice dont try to pull all kinds of fancy moves having a few simple moves that you are good at and a decent shot is a great foundation to work from. and never stop working on the basics, doing drills like the typewriter are great for ball handling... and you can never do too many layups :P
